"The season for the Nashville Predators has been one of streaks. Winning streaks, point streaks, winless streaks.

After Sunday's post-Christmas 2-0 loss to the Blues, the Predators dug themselves deeper into yet another stretch — a losing streak.

The Blues jumped on the Predators first and St. Louis goaltender Jaroslav Halak stuffed Nashville's chances to send the Predators to their fourth straight loss. The defeat comes on the heels of a five-game winning streak and an 8-0-2 point gaining run.

"It seems like we're a streaky team," defenseman Shane O'Brien said. "When we're going good, we're going good and when we lose one, we lose two and now we're on a bit of a skid again. The thing about being a good hockey team is consistency. We had some good consistency going there for a couple of weeks, and now, here we go again."

Without leading scorer Steve Sullivan and fellow point-producing forward Martin Erat, the Predators' offense was dormant again. During this losing streak, Nashville has three goals. Halak made 32 saves to preserve his second shutout this season against the Predators."
