If this is true, I hope Dana is respectful enough to release Brock from his contract and let him go back to the WWE. You can not make a man fight in the octagon if his heart is not in there with him, it is too dangerous.
Hmmm, Brock moving on isn't a big loss for the UFC in terms of talent but its a huge financial loss because Brock is such a big draw and because of this I think that Dana will make it as difficult as possible for Brock to leave the UFC. I honestly think that Dana gives zero fucks about whether Brock's heart is in it or not.
Meltzer is a very respectable journalist, I wouldn't doubt him. As much as I'd like to see Brock continue to fight in the UFC I can understand if he achieved his goals and wanted to retire with his health. However returning to the WWE seems like the wrong idea unless it is for infrequent appearances and not for full-time wrestling. The WWE is way worse for the body than MMA is.
A $2 million dollar pay day for 30 minutes of work @ WM sounds damn good. I couldn't imagine him going back to the WWE full-time. I'd imagine it would be occasionally throughout the year.
I think Dana's biggest concern is losing Brock to Strikeforce. I think at this point Brock just wants to make money as easily as possible. He sees that big WM offer and its very easy money. Like people were saying, hes a bully and he doesn't like getting hit. It seemed like he planned on dominating the HW division for a while but after he got beat hes totally given up on MMA. I would bet that if Dana does release him early it will be on the condition that he can't sign with any other MMA promotions. Because IMO if he gets out of the UFC deal and goes to WM it won't be long before he wants more money and Coker will do whatever the hell Brock wants as far as money and contract stipulations just to get people to watch SF.
I don't see why he has to give up so easily after his only second loss in the UFC. All he has to do is work on his endurance and stand-up game and I'm sure he'd be more successful in the octagon with tougher strikers with long endurance's such as Velasquez. He's only 33. I guess the WWE could work as well though with all that money.
I used to read him all the time when I followed WWF/E, and just like every wrestling writer, he was wrong twice as often as he was right.
Wow lol I am shocked. No respect for Brock anymore. What a punk. Might as well change his name to Salvatore Bonpensiero, cuz Brock is just a big pussy.
haha. When you cant win any longer by bullying opponents, the true colors show. I always thought he was just an average fighter who was just gifted with Size, Speed, and Power. Theres alot more to fighting than those 3 basic elements.
^ Dude won the title and defended it twice. Dunno how anyone could consider him average. He isn't average in the least. With next to no experience, being over ten years removed from amateur wrestling, and having a long history of injury, what he did is pretty incredible.
He used size and power to overwhelm his opponents. with the exception of his submission, he just bullied them on the mat. He has absolutely no standup game... His gameplan every fight? Pretty simple. Rush in with my speed, take them down, and use my weight and power to hold them there. Ground them out till the turn to dust. Winning the title is cool.. I respect him for doing that.. The guy is a massive beast, and intimidation played a huge factor in at least one of those wins. The guy is HUGE, strong and fast. GIFTS. However Brocks true capabilities as a total fighter were questioned when, both heavyweights Carwin and Cain showed the world and other heavyweights that with better technique and skill Brock was completely vulnerable in the standup where he couldnt bully you. Shane was destroying him but just couldnt finish him and gassed himself out. Brock stood no chance until he brought him to his comfort zone. I'd dare to say Mir, was beating him standing in their 2nd meeting, and Brock simply brought him to the mat and sat on his ass, then pounded his face in.. Velaquez, wish superior standup, great power and speed, and good takedown defense, showed Brock what a total MMA is about. I'd say Velasquez is the most complete fighter in his division right now. I've never been impressed with Brock as a MMA fighter. Hes an average fighter... GIFTED with BRUTE power, strength, and SPEED. And INTIMIDATION. His skillset as a COMPLETE MMA fighter is average at best. lol
lol.. nah. I just always thought of BROCK as a BULLY rather than a FIGHTER. Can you imagine him in the LW division with the skillset he possesses? He would have been an average joe amongst giants. Rampage, Machida, etc..... All would have wooped his tail a long time ago!
