Oh excuse me. It's not this weekend. The story reads, "Receiver sets official visit." I don't know when the visit is.
Texas Tech just lost their Defensive Coordinator, which matters to us because Tech is reportedly in the final 3 of both of the Pennsylvania prospects Jackson and Simmons. STOMP
rivals finally got around to rating Carlyle Garrick deeming him a 3*, which bumps the Duckies up to #10 overall in their ratings of 2011 classes http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/teamrank/2011/all/all STOMP
Dang starting to round up nicely indeed! Right on par with (T)OSU with avg stars of recruits. Cal really held us back from going higher, but with the possible loss of their recruiting guru... I hope that could help us even more! (yes I am getting greedy)
also Tyler Johnstone has been bumped up to 4* by both Rivals and Scout. Changed the post to reflect the change.
I think that all of us (relatively) new recruiting fans get a little frustrated that Oregon's class isn't rated higher... but what about Auburn? They've been a power in the SEC (off and on) for decades, and they're the #1 team after an undefeated season... and they're not in the top 20, but Clemson and UNC are in the top 10. Clearly rankings aren't everything, and clearly there's a lag between on-field and recruiting results, but that still strikes me as odd. Ed O.
Auburn's 2011 class is ranked just outside of the top 20 mostly because of the low number of recruits that they have so far. While they don't have as many guys signed yet as most of those ranked above them, rivals ranks what recruits they do have comparably to the Ducks and tOSU so while they lack in quantity they do well with quality. I understand that in their ratings rivals uses the top 20 rated guys and the Tigers have just 14 thus far on another note, big 4* Washington DT Danny Shelton is to announce his intentions this Friday during the Versus television broadcast of the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl. The game starts at 1 pm... recruiting insiders from his two final schools (UO & UW) claim to be pretty confident so STOMP
I did a little research.. much at the expense of my work sitting in front of me lol. I looked at Rivals Recruiting rankings for the teams who played in the BCS Championship Game. Both for the class the year of (Before their championship season started) And the Class signed right after the BCS NC game was over. I did this for both the winner, and the loser of the BCS game. I only went back to 2002 as thats as far as the Rivals rankings would go back. First for the Winners: 2002: (t)OSU: Class rank before= #5, Class rank after = #41, - 36 Spots 2003: LSU: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #2, - 1 spot 2004: USC: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #1, No change 2005: Tex: Class ranks before = #20, Class rank after = #5, + 20 spots 2006: UF: Class rank before = #2, Class rank after = #1, +1 Spot 2007: LSU: Class rank before = #4, Class rank after = #11, - 7 spots 2008: UF: Class rank before = #3, Class rank after = #11, -8 Spots 2009: Ala: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #5, -4 Spots Avg Change for each winner = - 4.375 Spots Avg Change for each winner not including OSU (cause I dont know what the hell happened there = + 0.143 Spots Now lets look at the Runners Up 2002: MIA: Class rank before = #8, Class rank after = #5, + 3 Spots 2003: OKL: Class rank before = #4, Class rank after = #8, -4 spots 2004: OKL: Class rank before = #8, Class rank after = #3, + 5 Spots 2005: USC: Class rank before = #1, Class rank after = #1, No change 2006: (t)OSU: Class rank before = #12, Class rank after = #15 -3 Spots 2007: (t)OSU: Class rank before = #15, Class rank after = #4, +11 Spots 2008: OKL: Class rank before = #6, Class rank after = #3, +3 Spots 2009: Tex: Class rank before = #5, Class rank after = #3, +3 Chances Avg Change of each Runner Up = +2.25 There are a couple things that I took from this, Current success of a team might not make a huge difference, cause as one recruit put it "You cant choose based on where they are in the Rankings now, cause they might not be there in 3 to 5 years" But also these are traditional College Football powers so they arent bound to change much in the rankings. We are truly in uncharted territory with these two schools in the BCS NC game. So we might not be able to tell the affects of this in the rankings until after this game, and on LOI day in Feb. All I know is recruiting has been on the up for Oregon the last few years, and I'm loving it!
per his twitter account, Devon Blackmon will announce on Jan 5th during the Under Armor HS All-American game. He claims to be down to Oregon USC and UCLA STOMP
I hope so. Although he has seemed like an Oregon lean since his visit. Hopefully that isnt the "expected"
He better expect some boos if he goes to USC. Oregon fans will probably remember that bullshit tweet about committing if he got 1,000 followers.
