Patty Mills has awoken Rudy's game and he's finally playing like we always hoped he would. I'd hate to see him leave now.
If he can keep this up, I'd love to keep him. I'm probably one of the biggest Rudy "haters", but he has been impressing me. Keep him unless he needs to be part of a good trade. I also don't have confidence that he will play well when Roy comes back.
If Patty Mills is a factor for this team going forward then our franchise is in a shitload of trouble. I like the Rudy who plays without Roy, but the Rudy who spots up and does nothing else when Roy is in the lineup I don't like. Having Roy, Matthews and Rudy on the roster is redundant. If Williams turns out to be a non bust then we have even more of a log jam
Oden, Pryz, and Camby are redundant. (And how is that log jam working out?) But with Wes able to slide to the 3 I don't see an issue with having 3 guys who can play 1 position. The real issue is not the log jam (as we need to be 3 deep at every position), but whether Rudy will be happy here going into next season. and that seems doubtful.
Being 3 deep at every possition is a great way to be average.Roy being the way he is now, He, Matthews and Rudy are all pretty much equal in skill. That's not good. Good teams play 8, maybe 9 guys, not 10 or 11 similar minutes. This bullshit 2 unit stuff that Nate does is a joke
I keep seeing talk of being deep at certain positions. To be honest, I am not sure we are even 1 deep at many of the positions you talk about. Currently we have no SF who play with confidence on the roster. Last I looked Joel hasn't taken the court in days and there is no mention of even when he is coming back. We basically have no backup PF, so we run a tweener there. Camby could literally retire any year now if he feels like it. If the team is tailspinning, I would have to beleive there is a high chance that is likely. Basically this team is 2 deep at SG, 1 deep at PF and the rest is a crapshoot. SG is the only position where we have any depth.
WTF are you talking about? Nate does not have a 2 unit rotation. Hell LMA rarely leaves the game and Miller comes back in early to play with the back ups. Good teams do often play 8-9 players. Especially down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs. But are you kidding me? You don't want to go 3 deep? What the hell are the other 7 players on the bench for? I am not saying you play 15 players every game, but if you haven't noticed.......... injuries occur. I acknowledged that Rudy is a problem if he is unhappy. I would include him in a trade for that reason. But you still need to have lots of depth to last a season. Especially this team.
I think MM has actually stopped paying attention to the games, and is going by observations he internalized over a season ago, back when James Jones was on the team and we did play a two unit rotation. In fact, that's probably the last time MM had anything original to say about Nate.
Depth is fine if there are absolute defined starters. Having this Roy, Matthews and Rudy on the same roster is redundant.
Roy's health is kind of up in the air right now. I have no clue how much he is going to play this year. Does anyone know for sure? So having Rudy (or someone as good as Rudy) along with Wes who can slide to the 3, is hardly (IMHO) too redundant. Sure if we can get someone better than any of those three (so their skill level isn't so similar) then I would take it. But that is a little unrealistic right now. Right now a log jam at that position is the least of my worries for this team.
Right now doesn't mean shit. Cho and a lot of the fans have to start thinking like this is a chess match.....which they should have been doing already. Instead, they see the now and forget that now means the Blazers win 45 instead of 43 wins with Rudy. They forget Rudy puted and all but demanded a trade. They forget that his trade value will never be higher than right now. Rudy doesn't want to be here, so ship his ass out for some real value, instead of letting him walk for nothing.
