Second read through I think Cho might be referring to treatment options for Roy, not personnel moves, when it comes to still gathering information.

A rumor is not valid unless one of Wojo, Wark, and Steve Patterson are involved in it.

If I were Cho, unless some major steal of a trade shows up, I'd do absolutely nothing before the deadline this season. First, it would drive most of the people on this and other Blazers message boards nuts, which is a fun little plus to the strategy. Second, trading away the experienced guys like Camby, Przybilla, and Miller would ensure missing the playoffs. Third, those guys can be worth just as much or more to the franchise over the summer or prior to next year's deadline as they are now. Finally, he's going to know more about Brandon's and Greg's futures by then so he can make better overall decisions going forward. So far, I've seen no trade rumors that would do anything to really improve the team in the long term. Unless some real doozy comes along, Status Cho.

Steve Patterson has wikileaks' type of potential.

well amy med retirement is likely several moves so this "might" be considered a first step. plus who knows what the new CBA might bring in the way of a possible "contract out" for cap purposes

Things are bad, and yes we need a miracle, but so do 25-27 other teams. i know that is not comforting, but things can change quickly. But yeah we need a break for once.

Your 'stand pat' strategy is all well and good except that if there is an extended lockout that wipes out the next season, then holding onto Pryz, Miller and Camby past the deadline actually means we probably lose them for nothing but some cap relief, plus trading them for younger assets (whether picks or players) at least means you've got the potential for getting better when the league resumes play instead of starting over from square one (so to speak).

I'm not exactly holding my breath that anything will get done; I don't believe Cho is operating with much autonomy and even if he is authorized to make moves he seems to be pretty deliberate and a conservative. Who knows, maybe the team really does just want to operate as close to in the black as they can and doing nothing is their best business strategy.

Keeping the vets past the deadline might mean we lose them for nothing if there is a lockout. Our team would absolutely suck, but 35 wins without them compared to 42 wins with them means what exactly? A first round loss as opposed to a chance at hitting the lottery? I think most fans know this team isn't going to win a title, and I'm not sure anyone cares if we sneak into the playoffs and get our asses handed to us by the L*kers.

I disagree. Aldridge/Matthews is a solid core that can make the playoffs.

I don't get this. If Roy's condition is never going to get better and rest really isn't going to help, why wait to incorporate him back into the team?

This team is paper thin and fighting for a playoff spot. If Roy can help, bring him back. A scorer off the bench who on any given night can put up 20+ is a valuble piece.

Whatever mental issues are at play need to be put set aside and the team (including Brandon) needs to focus on making the playoffs.

very likely no but if we do does it matter? Rather trade the vets for what we can get, let guys like Batum and even Armon play more and see what they can do, and suck it up.
