That team only won 21 games because he had ZERO help. ZERO help. No player can do it by himself. Zach Randolph= 3-1 in playoffs as starter (leading scorer and rebounder) Good riddance??
Eric, There's this function that allows you to multi-quote in ONE post (rather than make five posts). You might want to check it out
Zach has a lot of help in Memphis, and the team has regressed since last season. He simply is a Stat Beast who would be a fantastic bench player, IMO.
None of Zach's teammates are proven talents in this league. Not a single one. Give him Matthews, Miller, and Camby and the Grizz would make the playoffs.
You've fallen in love with using this whole "stat beast" label that you attach to players. Its quite amusing. If you're playing in the NBA and you put up monster stats, it means you are a good player. The bball IQ on that Memphis team in general is really low. I don't think Z-Bo is the problem. He might be part of the problem, but he's definitely their best player.
Gay and Mayo are more proven than Matthews at this point. Gasol has also proven he's a quality starting center as well. Also, if you think Matthews is a proven player in this league then you must think Conley is as well since both are having outbreak seasons. Randolph has quality players around him. He's still losing, though.
Wrong. Wesley Matthews has reached the second round of the playoffs as a starting shooting guard. He is more proven than any of Randolph's current teammates.
Matthews put up a PER of 11.8 in the playoffs last season. The Jazz are on a pace to win more games without him this year.
Randolph has reached the All Star game and is 3-1 in the playoffs as a starter. Randolph and Matthews are both proven. What have Mayo, Gay, Conley, or Gasol proven? It's not about who is more proven. It's about having proven anything at all. Matthews and Randolph are proven talents. Mayo, Gasol, Conley, and Gay have proven nothing. Nothing at all.
PER doesn't account for defense and intangibles. Plus, the Jazz changed their roster in other ways this season. So you can't compare records.
I disagree. I think he's a Stat Beast who would make a good complementary starter. You want some good defenders around him and he's not an ideal go-to guy because he doesn't have the passing ability to create for others when the defense collapses on him.
I already posted that thought in another thread. He's a great #3 player who needs good defense in the middle to be a part of a playoff, or even title, team. We agree again, you rascal! I only said bench as it pertains to the Blazers at this point, with LMA starting over Zach. I feel the same way about Kevin Love, by the bye.
