Any chance they have their eye on someone and needed to open a slot on the roster??? Can't say I'm really gonna miss this guy, it was nice when he could provide some offense off the bench, but i was really hoping for more from him.

According to Marcus Thompson, it's a move to free up a roster spot in order to bring in an additional player in a trade, like a 2 for 1 or 3 for 2. Not because they're looking to sign someone.

Yeah I think its just because he wasn't really playing much anyway and this saves us some money and frees up a roster space. I think in the mean time they may start giving D-League guys tryouts.

Sounds interesting. Bringing in Melo? j/k. Nonetheless I wonder if it's a major or minor trade on tap, or if this rumor has much to stand on.

It makes more sense that the trade rumor isn't true, since you can waive someone anytime before the trade. I thought that Carney's contract is guaranteed as well, otherwise it would make sense to do it now, since Jan 10 is when partially guaranteed contracts become fully guaranteed for the season. The other reason is that today is the first day you can start signing 10-day contracts, so maybe the Warriors will just sign some temporary help if Biedrins is going to be out any longer (lousy Warriors curse), or if Law's wrist is not in playing shape. But a shakeup, even a mini-one, would definitely be welcome.
