The San Francisco 49ers have named in-house executive Trent Baalke the team's general manager, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.com's John Clayton late Tuesday night. Baalke, previously the team's vice president of player personnel, interviewed with team president Jed York on Saturday. Baalke said the two met for about two hours at Niners team headquarters in Santa Clara. Baalke, with six years in the franchise, was largely considered the front-runner for the job -- and he sure sounds confident about his chances. Baalke had an informal conversation with reporters on the field at Candlestick Park before the team's season finale Sunday against Arizona.
