That would be huge if he can get healthy and get back to form. There was a time when he was a coveted trade piece. Now, he's an afterthought. Will he ever be NBA durable for years at a time? Most likely not. But if he can get back, get right, and start contributing, just enough to make him a tantalizing trade piece, GS can cash in on him before he gets injured again...
I never would have thought the day would come when I'd rather see Vlad than B. Wright on the floor. I hope he can prove me wrong, but he's been nothing but a bust.
Udoh starts producing and now out of nowhere B. Wright feels like he better start playing. I don't know what to think about this guy. I guess I'm with Smart, show up to the court to play more frequently then we can think about you again. Maybe these are serious injuries though I wonder if they are things NBA players learn to play with during their careers.
If nothing else he should have already had a sense of urgency. I think they're probably legit injuries but you have to wonder if he realizes that the fans and perhaps Lacob himself have pretty much given up on him and see him as an expiring contract. I'll be pissed if Smart plays him over Udoh though. Udoh has earned minutes. Hes pretty steady and done solidly on defense and rebounding the ball. BW hasn't earned a damn thing since hes been in GS.
Brandon Wright is one of the biggest flops out of NC EVER! Hard to believe really. Joe Wolf had a better career. Brendan Haywood, Marvin Williams. Even Rashad McCants!!! has had a few good games. BW has done nothing. I have a hard time believing this. Really, and I have never been a TarHeel fan (nor a Dukie), but I've respected them always. Sad. Watch, he'll bust out like Jermaine O'Neal once he leaves.
Haha agreed. He may bust out like Ike or POB as well. Then again maybe he'll be out of the league without income and then make a come back where he'll finally be healthy more frequently and actually be on the court. Actually unlike Ike and POB, Wright could at least be a productive NBA player, IMO.
Who was he guaring in the first half? He looked out of place guarding Andersen in the second half. Not much experience there I guess.
I think POB was the biggest bust. He was just a mobile 7 footer with long arms, nothing more. Ike Diogu had skill, just none of the defensive presence or athleticism to be that small. He got injured like Brandan Wright and never really contributed much after that injury. I wold prefer Diogu right now over no-skill, hustle players like Amundson. I'm thinking we should hold onto Biedrins until something better comes along.
I don't mind Amundson, I just think we're asking wayyyyyy too much of him. We are actually running plays for him, and that's ridiculous.
I know everyone thinks Brandan Wright is a bust... but I think he's one of the most exciting players on the team right now, in terms of potential. Frankly, I didn't expect him back, but to see him play well against Orlando was eye-opening. Remember, he's only been in the league two full years, and he played 38 games and then 39 games. This is his 3rd year, and he's only played 10 games. He's only 23 years old. I know the injuries have been super frustrating, and his skinny-ass frame does nothing to ease my worries that the injury-riddled past is behind him. But when he's healthy, and right.... damn if he doesn't look very good. Unstoppable jump hook. Freakish wingspan. Amazing blocks. And against Orlando, he had some tough boards, including one over Dwight Howard. Of course, it's just the beginning for him, if he is actually going to make his mark in the NBA. But now that I'm seeing him play again, and remembering his play in the limited time he has actually been on the floor with the Warriors, I'm thinking two things: 1) He's barely been in the league, and he's barely even gotten a chance yet 2) He looks really, really promising, still, despite the injuries At first, I was hoping he'd get healthy so we could trade him... now I'm hoping he can get healthy and be a long-term part of this team to help GS win games
I know hes still got potential but I don't think hes shown that he can be above average in anything besides shot blocking at some point in his future. Hes always been a poor rebounder. His offense hasn't developed, is outside shot isn't any better, his post game is still worthless despite the good baby hook. He still gets pushed around and I don't see any good on ball defense from him. If we can use him as we did Ike or AR to push a trade through I'd do it but he probably has less value then either of them at the time they were traded.
I love his jump hook. I'd tell him to shoot that from out to 12'. He's got a nice touch and at his wingspan no one is going to block it. I'd still keep BW, he's cheap and young with talent and a good attitude.
I'd keep B.Wright as well, but the kid needs to put on some serious poundage. I'm telling you, now that Abdenour is out, they need to go to Phoenix and bring in the guys that got Grant Hill rehabilitated and reshaped Shaq late in his career. The investment is worth any extra coin that they may put in.
