Re: Greatest team in your team's history? The 88-89 team probably for Detroit. The original Bad Boys, which included Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Mark Aguirre, Adrian Dantley, Rick Mahorn, and coach Chuck Daly. It was amazing how they took down Showtime, MJ's Bulls, the Celts, and Portland. 04 Team is close, but 89 had tons of depth, and won twice in a row.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? For the Heat I would've said this year but I don't think our team is that great. I thought last years team was the best, we had a younger, healthier Shaq and we actually had some good shooters to help. I think had Wade not been injured we could have won. I'm not too convinced of this years team after watching games 1 and 2, it makes me wonder if making all those moves is helping us in the long run.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? If were going post-ABA, I gotta go with the 2002-2004 nets as well as the current roster..
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? I guess mine would have to be the 1994-95 Orlando Magic, with Shaq and Hardaway, since they made it to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately we was swept by Hakeem and his Rockets team. I would like to point out that Hakeem was a mature, experienced veteran at that time, and Shaq had only been in the league for about 2 or 3 years, so Hakeem knew more about the game and what was going on than Shaq did. I think for Shaq to have a decent series against a much older and experienced Hakeem was a showing as to the type of player Shaq was in this league. Not only that, Shaq gave Hakeem such a handful, that after that finals series, Hakeem predicted that Shaq would return to the finals. So for those of you running around saying Shaq doesn't play well against good centers, i would like to say you are completely wrong.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? Exactly, he had to face David Robinson, a hall of famer several times in the west. I didn't think Orlando was going to win that series either, even with Shaq dominating him and Anfernee and possibly Nick Anderson were the only people who showed up. That was against a Rocket team consisting of Hakeem, Clyde, Maxwell and Otis Thorpe. They had 2 hall of famers and a strong supporting cast, not to mention they had won the previous finals.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? Definetly the years of the original Bad Boys. All of the greats from those years and the way we played. The last 3 years could be up there too, but the years of the bad boys were by far the most joyous years for the Pistons.

Orlando on paper was easily the best team in the entire league at that time, and shaq was in his prime the second he stepped on a basketball court. Also i think his best seasons were in the mid 90s, despite stats since in the early 00s, i feel they increased due to a huge decrease in the talent pool.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? This year's team for me. I know you could argue last year's, but I don't care if Wade was injured, it shouldn't have been that close in the first place if we were so good. This year we had a third scoring option, while last Eddie couldn't come through. Also this year we had a better bench and in my opnion better PG in Williams and an experienced vet we could count on off the bench in Payton. Of course, most importantly Wade had another year under his belt and was a much better player than he was last season.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? 01 Raptors by default. Thats the only year we got to the 2nd round of the playoffs..Vince Carter at the helm..we had some pretty good days. Im confident that it will soon be the Bosh-led team in this discussion though..

LA lost both Magic Johnson and Byron Scott to injuries, of course they got swept. For me it's gotta be the showtime Lakers. They had
Arguably the best point guard of all time (Magic)One of the best defensive swingmen of all time (Michael Cooper)Some of the best clutch players of all time (Magic and Worth)One of the best Centers of all time (Kareem, although by the time showtime was in full gear he was nowhere near his prime)
They were the best fastbreaking team ever, but their defense and halfcourt game is extremely underrated. Kareem drew in a double because of his sky hook, and this allowed guys open outside shots. Worthy and Scott could both slash and finish well, while Magic was, well Magic.

What i said, was for Shaq to have such a good series against Olajuwon, who was older and more experienced at the time was a testament to how good of a player Shaq was in this league, and it started as soon as he walked on the court. In only his 3rd season in the league, Shaq averaged 28 points, 12.5 rebounds, 6.2 assists, while shooting 59.5 percent from the field. That is Shaq doing everything possible to get his team to win, unfortunately the rest of his team just could not keep up with Houston. Now as for the bolded part on your paragraph. The Magic's main seven players was Shaq, Horace Grant, Penny Hardaway, Dennis Scott, Nick Anderson, Brian Shaw, and Donald Royal. The main seven that played for the Rockets at that time was Olajuwon, Drexler, Robert Horry, Sam Cassell, Kenny Smith, Mario Elie, and Chucky Brown. Drexler was a better player than Hardaway, so Olajuwon had a better sidekick than Shaq had, and the rest of the team around the Rockets was better than the team around Shaq. Not only that, the Rockets as a whole was a more veteran and experienced team than the Magic was. I watched that series, as i was about 9 or 10 years old at that time, and living in Orlando. Most people had picked the returning champion Rockets as the team that would win this series, especially the announcers.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? Showtiume baby, but I ddint see much of that era... I like the 3peat Kobe-Shaq era, that was really exciting for me

Did you just say a 35 year old clyde drexler was better then a prime penny hardaway? What are you even talking about? Also How does Hakeem have an advantage when he was nearly the same age then as Shaq was this past season when he won his championship? Orlando had youth on their side, athleticism, and overall talent. As far as Sam Cassell and Robert Horry, at that point in their careers, they werent even factors.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? I can tell you didn't watch the NBA at that time, nor did you watch that NBA finals. Sam Cassell scored 31 points in game two, which was the big reason why we lost that game, and that same game in Orlando Horry ate us up with like 6 or 7 steals in the game and hit a few big shots. Game 3, Horry hit the big shot at the end that caused the Magic to loose in Houston. In game 1, Horry got the big block at the end of the game on Dennis Scott, that broke all Magic fans hearts. Horry and Cassell were big factors in this series, and in the playoffs in general, for the rockets. Also Clyde Drexler completely outplayed Hardaway that NBA finals, proving that even as a 35 year old he was better than the 2nd year player Hardaway. He averaged 21.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 6.8 assists over the series. Now they did play two different positions, but Drexler was still a better number two option than Hardaway was at that time. The other thing, was Hardaway through the series would get idea's that he was better than he really is, and shoot to much, and forget to pass the ball to Shaq down low. Infact, in the final moments of one game, Shaq didn't even touch the ball because his team would shoot from the perimeter instead of passing it inside. The more veteran Rockets were smart enough to keep going to Hakeem, even at the end of games and keep running the offense through him. That's a reason why veteran leadership pays off, they know to keep going to what works for them, in this case Hakeem. The young teams, in this case the Magic, was not smart enough to keep going to Shaq even at the end of the games in close situations.
Re: Greatest team in your team's history? it's either the 1972, 1985 or 1987 Lakers. That 1985 Laker team was the greatest offense ever assembled in NBA history. Hands down!!The 1972 team was just unstoppable, Greatest backcourt ever? Maybe. But, the 1987 Lakers were the best of the three. Maybe the most talented team ever, that includes the 1986 Boston Celtics.
