I have never agreed so much with a headline in my entire life:

    Thanks, Z-Bo.

If only the Blazers hadn't traded Z-bo, his fams could have kept shooting in peace on the five acre parcel of land and this tragedy would not have happened.

The blood is on Canzano's hands.

Also, is it just me or does that seem like a poorly-written column? To wit:

and then, later in the piece,

I read the second sentence and felt a huge sense of deja vu. Then I thought maybe he was using a device... like a rule of three thing. But then the column ended and it just looks like really sloppy writing.

Was it friends or someone who put those things there? Or is he just making up that it was friends, when he doesn't know? Or is he just making up this whole thing?

Zach had nothing to do with this. After Canzano's article about alleged murderer Moffett, and murder victim Mata, this comment followed:

At the end of the article, Canzano finally, and not-quite-gracefully, admits that Randolph had nothing to do with the shooting, and *just maybe* Moffett is responsible for his own actions.

If he had said that in the first sentence, he could have skipped writing the rest of the article!

And yes - I would rather have players who go to strip clubs than players who throw team-mates under the bus in the media.

That's cause Canzano doesn't blame Randolph, he blames the Trail Blazers:

I agree there is nothin wrong with strip clubs. But I don't think that was the main issue for Zach.

Unnecessary article. Didn't have anything to do with the Blazers.

Well clearly the Trailblazers are at fault. I fully expect the family of the deceased to use this article as a pillar in their case against the team.

In his mind it was. I agree he was trying to justify his hatchet job on Zach and the Jail Blazers over the YEARS. But he did attempt to tie it all in with the upcoming transition for the current team by making his pitch for the Blazer's to be careful and not return to bad character players.

It's the worst sort of "journalism" - Zach knew the guy, and the Blazers knew Zach, so they are all guilty by association.

For every good Canzano does with his foundation and highlighting the needy, he destroys it with columns like these that have no integrity and are utterly disingenuous.

The usual Canzano stuff: Self-serving, poorly written, and poor connection with the Blazers.
That said, I'm still glad Zbo is gone.

So how did the shooter get the $$$ to hire Stephen Houze?

I was wondering what was up when they showed his arraignment on the news and Houze was standing next to him while he's waiving to family members.

    Why does that matter?

If Zach supports his friend against allegations of something then he's a bad guy? Or it's the Blazers' fault for drafting and signing a guy who takes care of his friends?

Did I say any of that?

When I saw him on TV during arraignment I was just surprised to see Houze standing next to him. That was before I knew of any possible Zbo connection.

It matters to me because I enjoy following this kind of stuff. Portland has always had an interesting criminal history and Houze has been very prominent in recent chapters including the Kyron Horman case.

While not in this forum I've also wondered how Terry Horman was able to hire Houze.

Moffett ran with Randolph's entourage. He attended Blazers games, along with other members of Randolph's crew, which wore the necklaces, and sometimes drag-raced, and rode ATV's and shot guns on the five-acre parcel the star basketball player owned.

Being born and raised in Lake Oswego I can attest that these perfectly legal and treasured American pastimes, along with horseback riding, beer keggers, and birdhunting, had been the norm in the Stafford area up until the last 20-30 years when Californians invaded and plopped their McMansions all over what used to be some of the prettiest land in Oregon.

Funny that it takes a bunch of young black guys to restore tradition to such a white corner of the county.
