Avatar came out in December 2009. Does that count?

I only saw one film on your list, Inception. I'd give it a 5/10.

Alice in Wonderland (Johnny Depp) was decent if you like Disney movies. It wasn't groundbreaking, but the story was fine and the actors and makeup were spot on.

2010 looks like a meh year for movies. 2009 had avatar and The Blind Side and Harry Potter and 2012 and Angels and Demons, all I think were better than any in 2010.

I also have only seen Inception. I'm going to add a few more.

    OK.

You didn't like 2012? I don't think it was a 5 star movie or anything, but it was special effects and action pretty much from start to finish. Pushed my entertainment system pretty well.

My point is that the movies this year look meh.

Well we need to see the rest, or at least The Social Network and Black Swan, as those two plus Inception seem to be the top three of 2010.

I went for Inception. The movie was phenomenal, and no other movie that I've seen since then has come close to it. Granted I haven't seen all the movies on this list and there's still some that I really want to see (specifically The Social Network and Black Swan), but Inception absolutely blew me away when I saw it.

Inception wins easily. I just saw Tron Legacy last night and it was really good too.

Same here, I've only seen Inception from that list so that wins. :)

I voted Black Swan. That movie really stuck with me more than any other this year. Inception is cool and when I left the theater my mind was blown but Black Swan was just...intense. Toy Story 3 was such a good movie too, I grew up with Toy Story and watching Woody and the gang deal with Andy going to college hit a soft spot in me.

2010 also had a Harry Potter movie. Really personal preference whichever you preferred more.

No movie this year had as big of a hit at the box office as Avatar did last year, but then I'd argue that no movie ever has. I'd also argue that Inception, while not a perfect movie, is more intelligent and at least to me more technically impressive as it hardly relies on CGI as much as Avatar did. As far as the Oscars go Inception will be taking Avatar's place as the blockbuster hit for Best Picture nominee.

2012 is just a bombastic mess. The characters are shallow and were never fully realized enough to even give a flying crap about them. The CGI is way too prevalent and really takes the saying "suspended disbelief" to new levels. I just couldn't help but think how much of the movie was shot with just a car and a green screen.

Don't get me started on the Blind side. I had to drink 2 large coffees just to make it through that film. For a film called The Blind Side, it's a surprise that the screenplay couldn't' blind side me once. The film's title works within the context of the film, but I wish the writers took a hint while writing this true story. The strongest thing I can say about the film is that it's a true story; just as sad is the fact that I'm sure the real events were far more intriguing and cinematic. I feel sorry for people that paid to see an ABC extended for TV movie.

There were a lot of good domestic films this year. I was disappointed in the lack of any great foreign films this year though. Last year you had Love Exposure, Ddongpari, In the Loop, 35 Rhums, A Prophet, Mother, Vincere, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. There were no real memorable films from overseas and none that I would put in my top 10 except maybe Animal Kingdom. However there were a lot of good documentaries. One of the biggest years ever probably.

2012 is the biggest piece of shit put out on screen. That along with any moving containing Nicholas Cage and Ben Affleck.

I watched The Blind Side on a plane, IIRC, and it helped me nap. Such a cookie-cutter sports movie.

Affleck was funny in "Extract", you might like it. About a guy who wants to have an affair, so he gets his wife to have one as well (to not feel guilty). Affleck helps with the transaction as the middle guy.

I've never seen "Leaving Las Vegas", but I hear it get praised.

Probably Inception. I still need to watch True Grit and 127 days. I hear the latter is really good. The Fighter was a pretty good film, too.
    .
My favorite movie this year was The Town, though.
