Outside of Paul. For me, it's Ryan Gomes, without a doubt. He's a hardworker, he's smart, quiet, coachable. I mean, honestly, what is there not to like about him? I remember when he was interviewed by Dickerson, he mentioned that he came up to coach after every practice and asked what else he could do to start getting some time. It is obvious that he loves the game. He didn't whine or give up; he kept at it, and he finally got his shot. He did more than take advantage of it. 2nd team all-rookie for the 50th pick, not bad at all.
I would have to go with Delonte West, with Ryan Gomes being right there behind him. Both of them are professionals, have excellent work ethics, and will definitely be big for the Celtics in the future (unfortunately). Both Delonte and Gomes really impressed me in terms of how quickly they progressed... especially Gomes because he started giving Boston some big production right out of the gates when Doc gave him playing time.
Yeah, probably both Gomes and West. All I need to say has pretty much been mentioned, but basically theyre real hardworkers, and their improvements from that work is really shown on the court.
Gomes definately, I've been watching him for so long before his NBA days when he was with Providence, he's such a hard worker and you never hear a peep out of the guy. He's also a New England native which is pretty cool, you don't see that much with the Celtics. I think the last New England guy to play for Boston was Chris Herren in the late 2000-2001. Also, a lot of people gave Gomes a lot of crap when he first came to Boston, a lot of people called him a tweener and stuff like that, you never heard one word from the guy, he just played accordingly to the situation he was put in. Gomes will be a big part of this organization for a good time to come.
I mean my second favorite player on the team is Delonte, not only because of his game, work ethic, and quick progression, but also his humor/personality. Gomes should also be up here for respect because he went from bench warmer, playing behind Justin Reed, to starter producing something like 12/7 as a starter, and ended up making the All-Rookie 2nd team from only playing really half a season. But, even with that said, Wally Szczerbiak is my answer. He is a world class individual, a great teammate, very enthusiastic, cares about others, very very very professional, and an overall nice guy. And on top of that, he is a former Western Conference All-Star, he is as consitant as they come, a good shooter, and he hustles his butt off as well as work his butt off at all times. I am a big fan of Wally and have been for quite some time because of everything I mentioned.
