Elliot should check with an independent doctor to make sure he still has his meniscuses after the surgery... They might just run off on their own...
If anyone on the roster is cadaver donor material, it should be Sean Marks or RLEC. (We do still own Raef's rights, right?)
The 2-for-1 coupon allowed a layaway on the 2nd knee. How many coupons are left? If I were a college player, I'd be afraid of being drafted by the Blazers. Seriously. The team doctors seems to have a love of 2-for-1 knee jobs.
It is rather tempting to bump the pre-season thread where people were getting hysterical at anybody saying that Williams might not be 100% healthy. (but he has a 97" vertical leap!!) It is nice that Williams is getting a couple of free knee surgeries out of the deal, but I wish the Blazers hadn't spent a first round pick on a charity case. Between Williams and Babbitt, KP give the Blazers a really nice "FU!" on the way out the door.
We favor players with likely injuries, in order to come out ahead in a trade or in the draft. Can you imagine if Sarver were our owner? By now he'd have fired all the front office, scouts, and cleared out all the players. The Blazers have the longest of the long-term viewpoints in sports. So do the golden-future fans. So anyway, can we win the Youngest Team of All Time Cup next year? We just gotta get rid of Camby, Miller, and Przybilla. The only reason you play is to win a championship. So if we're not going to win it this year, we might as well blow it up.
I'm interested to see what Cho's draft philosophy is. I wasn't too impressed with KP's last couple drafts.
So if they blow it up this year, and aren't going to win the title next year, do they blow it up again next year?
I disagree. Don't blow it up just to blow it up. If there's a deal out there that makes the team better then get it done. But it's not championship or bust in my opinion. I remember the 27, 21, & 32 win seasons WAY too vividly. While my first choice would be to have Roy/Oden healthy and talking WCF, I'll settle any day for a 40-50 win season, a decent chance of making the playoffs, & a not-so-great chance of winning a playoff series. At least it's interesting. Getting blasted by 25 every night isn't worth my time. In my opinion the opposite of the euphoria that comes with winning a championship is not the agony you feel when you have a chance and fall short. It's the indifference that sets in when your team has no chance at all.
