A punishing defence backed by Bob Watson's fabulous goaltending enabled the Toronto Rock to steamroll over the Edmonton Rush 13-7 on the opening night of a new National Lacrosse League season Saturday. “We have a system and this is our second year of playing it and we seem to be getting better at it,” said head coach Troy Cordingley. Stephan Leblanc scored three goals, Garrett Billings, Kasey Beirnes and rookie Aaron Pascas each got two and Colin Doyle, Pat Merrill, Blaine Manning and Drew Petkoff chipped in with one each for the Rock in front of an Air Canada Centre crowd of 11,564. But the defence and the goaltending were the keys. “We stick to our system as a group and we trust each other,” said D-man Jeff Gilbert. “We try to dictate where the other team is going to be playing the ball and that seems to play into our favour. I love playing it and everybody else loves playing it. We're thriving right now.
