Lofton Erupts for 44 Points, Short-handed Energy Beat Bakersfield 116-108

    Guard Chris Lofton scored an Iowa Energy record 44 points as the Energy beat Bakersfield 116-108 Saturday night. Lofton, who entered the game averaging 14.3 points per game, made 15 of 23 shots from the field including seven 3-pointers. His 44 point game is the highest single game scoring output in the D-League this season.

    Iowa played without guards Curtis Stinson (suspension) and Kyle Weaver (injury).

    The Energy trailed 81-74 with 2:49 remaining in the 3rd quarter before going on 23-6 run fueled by 12 points from Lofton. Bakersfield would get no closer than five points the rest of the game as Iowa cruised to the victory.

    Lofton also had 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals in the game. Othyus Jeffers added 27 points and 10 rebounds for Iowa (15-6).

    Bakersfield was led by guard Jeremy Wise, who scored 27 points and handed out 9 assists. Los Angeles Lakers assignee Devin Ebanks added 26 points for the Jam, who fall to 11-8 on the year.

    The Energy head to South Padre Island, TX for the annual NBA D-League Showcase next week. Iowa takes on Utah Monday and Texas on Thursday before returning home on Sunday, January 16th vs. Ft.
