The NBA championship might have been real back in 1977, but today it's no more real than professional wrestling.
I have a photo of Ken Kesey and myself at our tailgaiter at the 94' Rosebowl. He and fellow Merry Prankster (Ken Babbs)used to get us backstage passes to the Dead Concerts. Wish I could remember them...................
So we had a rally at Pioneer Courthouse Square when the Beavers won their first baseball championship but nothing has been scheduled for the Ducks?
Because the Beavs won - a rally to celebrate Auburn's upcoming victory would likely be sparsely attended - though I'd show up in orange.
Didn't they have the rally scheduled for *after* the Beavers won the WS? Shouldn't you guys wait until the game is at least half over before you start awarding the Ducks the title and worrying/bitching about there not being a rally planned? I bet IF they win, there will be a rally first in Eugene, and then one in Portland, and then probably one in other parts of Oregon.
Watching all the coverage on ESPN and its pretty much a forgone conclusion to them that Auburn is winning the title. I hope they aren't claiming they don't have a bias. I hope Scam Newton gets tally-wacked on the first play.
The Blazers winning the NBA Championship was the defining moment of my sporting fan childhood. The idea in 1977 that either U of O or OSU would ever compete for a National Championship was beyond comprehesion. If the Ducks can somehow win tomorrow, it would come very close to equalling the birth of Blazermania.
Auburn is acting equally confident, as are their fans. You can just tell that they think they're going to win easily.
Are you serious? Most college players aren't even from the college's state, therefore they are not representative of the state. And they've not faced 95% of the other teams at all. They played a handful of games well, and then won a computer lottery to get their seeding. I rank the Oregon City High girls basketball team's accomplishments higher than anything the Ducks have done.
We don't know that. It could be a shit that he found somewhere. Although the fact that he's willing to consider gifting it probably means that he believes he has the legal right to do so. barfo
