we would be playing TCU right? Just wouldn't be the same game. Auburn vs Ducks has "Epic" written all over it.
We'd be hearing nothing but asterisk from a lot of fans for the TCU match up assuming we'd win, especially from SEC fans who feel entitled to put their conference champ in the game every year. I want to beat their undefeated champ just to shut them up.
That's pretty much what I've been saying for months. If we had played BSU or TCU, it would have been a lose/lose situation. If we win, we were supposed to win against a weaker foe. If we lose, we just got beat by a team that shouldn't have been there in the first place.
if Oregon won a national championship vs TCU and any rival fan tried to talk some smack about it not meaning as much for whatever stupid reason... water off our collective backs as we deliriously refer to the scoreboard! Maybe it would mean more to national media to beat an SEC team, but I'm pretty sure Duck fans would be able to take some satisfaction regardless... especially since this first natty will be looked back on as the dawn of an era STOMP
