Stupid how? If he's projected as a 2nd-3rd round pick based solely on his height, what does he gain by coming back?
sucks for the team but i can't blame him. why would he want to play behind another shitty line. best of luck to him
I don't blame Quizz for declaring although it hurts me bad as a Beaver fan. Running backs have a limited longevity so he needs to start getting paid as soon as possible.
Good for Jacquizz, I am happy for him. As Platypus said this isn't a stupid decision by Rodgers at all. He's been a workhorse for the Beavers, full time duty for three years; his body has taken plenty of hits and sees big, after the whistle hits just because of how important he is to the team. The shelf life of a running back is short, Jacquizz's abilities and talents are well known to the NFL - his running and cutting ability, his good hands, his blocking. These aren't going to improve even more next year, it's just a chance for him to get hurt behind a pretty shitty offensive line. He'll be a second, third round pick and he will make it as a player in the NFL. Just like I wasn't upset when Jackson left, I'm not upset Jacquizz is leaving. He helped the program immensely, they made money and recruiting strides with him, he has to and should take care of himself now. Best of luck to him in the NFL.
Is he projected as a 2nd- or 3rd-rounder based solely on his height? I find that hard to believe. If a team is going to be willing to spend a 2nd or 3rd rounder on a RB, it seems they'd want to get a guy who could be a feature back, and if he has a stronger year then he has a chance to go in the first round. If teams see him as limited, I doubt he'll fare much better than, say, Darren Sproles (#130 overall) did. Guess we'll see how it works out for him. Ed O.
I based my comment on the following, as quoted from Paul Buker's article from 12/30: I can't really say how valid that speculation really is, but if the evaluation he received from the College Advisory Committee said the same, then I would imagine that would be a pretty good reason to go pro now.
Quizz is virtually the same height and weight as Maurice Jones-Drew was in college. Their stats are almost exactly the same as well. Oh, and their 40 times are the same.
Exactly what I thought when I heard the news. Also, it couldn't be a worse time to be a Beaver football fan.
If he goes in the second round? I can't fault the guy. If he slips to the fourth or fifth round, then I think it was a stupid move because he could have potentially gotten there with another good year. Ed O.
