Well, I was watching ESPN and got to wondering. What really ruined the Bulls? Was it Pippen's love for money? Jordan's short retirement. Krause's demand to rebuild the team and not bring everyone back. Did Phil Jackson have anything to do with there breakup as him being the coach? Well, discuss what you think/know here.EDIT: I am talking about the MJ era of the Bulls.
What hpnd to the bulls? All I know is that they got an incredible franchise future, just like the Raptors.
Krause didn't want to resign Phil Jackson and traded Pip because he wanted to go inta a rebuilding mode, and Jordan wasn't going to play without either of them.

Michael Jordan had repeatedly said that he was willing to play another year if Jerry Krause brought both Phil Jackson and Scottie Pippen back. However, as we all know, that didn't happen and Jordan entered his second retirement.
We forget though at that time Pippen left on bad terms, so if your going to blame Kobe for making shaq leave, you have to put at least the same judgement on MJ. It wasnt entirely Krause's fault, and if his idea was the current bulls team all along, i'd say he did a damn good job rebuilding, since he basically set up our core even before Paxson came.
I think the colapse of the Chicago Bulls was kick started when Pippen left. I have heard reports that Jordan wouldn't have ever retired if Pippen hadn't gotten traded. What I have heard might be wrong, but it makes a lot of since. I also think that if that was right, then Phil Jackson would have stayed as well. If that was wrong, it is obviously Jordans premature retirement.
The whole scottie pippen incident turned the entire team upside down, they lost their future for over a decade sadly, of course now they're back and ready to go with a big eye for the future.
People have already explained why above but it's kind of nice that they went out with a bang and on top.
I think the retirment of Jordan would have to be the reason behind the team's collapse. I think if he stayed and that team stuck together they could have won one or two more rings at the level he was playing. Like BCB said, it was the perfect way for him to go out, however, and I think he tainted his legacy by coming back and playing for Washington..
If anything Washington showed you how amazing he really was to come back after a few years and still put up 20ppg.
Yeah, sadly not alot of people think about how old he was when he was averaging 20, they just complain that he came back and ruined his career. At 40, 20 ppg is ridiculous and although with the Wizards he never made the playoffs, I admit it was because we weren't giving him the support he needed.

Having said that, Im glad he did because I got to truely watch and enjoy seeing him on the court..
