Antawn Jamison's a a nice shooter from outside and soft scorer in the inside, but that's all you're gonna get from him. He's not consistant, he's a streaky shooter, he doesn't help his teammates much and he is weak down-low. Pau Gasol is a whole different story down in the post, he is a threat on defense, make great decisions, helps his teammates, and can produce as much as Jamison can scoring-wise.I'd go with Gasol.
Gasol. Jamison is too soft, and isnt your typical big man. He stands around on the perimeter and barely takes it strong to the hole. Jamison also can be very inconsistent and has very bad shot selection sometimes. Not to mention he's years older than Gasol. Gasol has proven himself as a true PF/C this year, bringing that intensity that many people thought pansy Europeans didnt have at all.
Pau Gasol. I am a big fan of Jamison though, and he can do a lot of things. Jamison can step out and shoot from mid-range or even 3, and can also make a muscle move in the post. He is also a good rebounder, but seems to have lost some of his athleticism for some reason (from his days in Golden State). But he is a favorite of mine and can score in many ways, from many different areas, as well as do some dirty work on the glass. But Pau is the better player. He has a nice finesse post game, plays with tenacity and heart, will get in on the glass, is quick. And the big one - is probably the most underrated passing big man in the league. He also sticks with bigger guys in post, even though he is skinnier than most, and he is a top 10-15 shot blocker in the NBA. He is also more of a leader than Antawn and he gives his team a certain spark of energy that Jamison doesn't possess. Take Gasol off the Grizzlies, they would be a lottery team. Take Jamison off the Wizards they could still be a playoff team in the East with there current squad. Not taking anything away from Antawn, because again I love the guy, but this is a fact.
Last year I would have said Antawn however the past off-season Pau became a rougher player who attacked the net more and wasn't as soft, he made the Grizzlies rely on him throught this year. Antawn has continued to play soft and still isn't the main driving force for us Wizards like the Griz's have Pau.
pff Pau Gasol. hes an elite power forward and hes only 25. he Plays ferociously and with heart and he get results.
No question it's Pau Gasol. As everyones been saying, Jamison is soft. He's more of a permiter guy, too many poeple can do that. Gasol with good height, is a real physical player down low, with great post skills. He's a legit shot-blocker, rebounder, and scorer inside. That's what you want in a PF, you can't find that everywhere. Jamison definitely isn't bad, but I'll take Gasol over him any day.

It's hard for almost anybody to be the #1 driving force if Gilbert Arenas is on it. If Arenas was on the Grizzlies, I think he would be the "driving force" over Gasol. So that can't be used against him. But I agree he has become softer than he once was, and like I said, either lost some of his athleticism or just doesn't choose to use it anymore. Antawn used to attack the rim at a high rate and throw it down with power, now it's either a jumper, a quick turnaround, or an easy dunk. He doesn't play with the intensity he did when he was in Golden State. Maybe that is because he's a little older now and wants to slow it down a bit, but still.
Antawn is more of a 3 forced to play power forward, like Shawn Marion this year. He doesn't play it that well since it's not his position, hes been too incosistent. Another thing, Gasol is the better defensive player, Antawn and the word defense should never be put in the same sentence. Gasol has a good inside game and younger, Antawn has lost a step or two since his Golden State days. This comparison isn't really fair though, Gasol is more of a center while Antawn is really a 3.
I like Gasol. He plays with all heart and is one hell of a defender. He is a great inside threat and can crash both the defensive and offensive boards. He is more of a leader as well. Jamison is a good shooter and solid defender, but I don't think he is on the level that Pau is.
Pau Gasol without question. Antawn is a talented player; Gasol is a franchise player. And believe me, there is a big difference. Any time your big man can do all that scoring and rebounding inside, AND get you almost 5 apg, that's a gem in this league.
