Tonight is why Miller, Camby and Joel should be traded. Our team is too inconsistent to be taken seriously in the playoffs
i think you always try for playoffs. and we shouldnt even think about trading camby. have you seen our centers??? you want duante starting? thats just unwatchable. miller to get harris? yes please.
It's time to move on from Miller at PG. This team is going nowhere with him at the helm unfortunately.
All true. It doesn't matter how Miller/Camby/Pryz play, this team is not going to win consistently. They need to deal whoever will bring the most in return - and right now, that is probably the vets.
You are right, but we have to start moving on from this farce of an idea that we can do some damage in the playoffs. The vets should be moved before we lose them for nothing this offseason....if there is a lockout, we could lose all three. Miller shouldn't be extended, so he in all reality is a FA after this season to us. Joel isn't even an NBA D league level player right now. Camby has been wonderful, but he is closer to 40 than 30.
I agree with Miller but not Camby unless you get a quality center in return. There just aren't too many of those out there.
Camby has been an injury prone center in this league, and his trade value may never be higher than right now. he has 1 year left on his contract, and if there is a lockout, we may lose him for nothing after this year. he is close to retiring, and it just makes no sense to me to keep a guy like that when your team isn't in the hunt to push deep into the playoffs.
Even without Camby Portland would most likely get the 10 to 13th pick in the draft. In a horrifically weak draft class that's worse then making the playoffs and loosing in the first round. I would bet if the up coming draft class was of the same caliber as the one that had LeBron Portland would have traded Miller and Camby already. Since it isn't even close, the team cannot justify giving up on the playoffs. Not to their fans. Not to their players. And especially not to their owner. Coincidentally, Allen just watched his "worst team to ever make the playoffs" advance. Honestly, even though the playoff formats are very different that may very well color his choices for the team going forward. Besides which, if Portland does lock horns with the Lakers in the first round, each and every game would be totally worth attending.
I think you're saying that we should keep Camby because even if he reverts to his historical pattern of being injured, our results in the standings and playoffs won't change. But the same could be said in favor of trading him.
I suppose if you want to take the position that Camby will have a significant season ending injury prior to Portland locking up a playoff spot then you would trade Camby without implication. I don't think that will happen. I think Camby will miss a portion of the rest of the season to injury but not more then 20% of the games played. That would still be enough for Portland to cruise into the post season. Which probably makes me a foolish optimist.
