Sure, but guys are missing WIDE OPEN shots. LA is reading defenses perfectly and is getting guys good looks. Even Rudy set Wesley up for a three in the corner plenty of times last night, but Wes could not convert.

Rudy, Nic, Wesley, and Patty can all get it going from the 3 point line, but they're all streak shooters and they all seem to collectively lose confidence in their shots at the same time. Last night was U-G-L-Y. What I don't get, given that it's a matter of confidence rather than mechanics, is why on nights like last night they don't make an effort to get some mid-range jumpers for these guys. It seems like getting a few 15 foot jumpers down might restore their confidence so that then they could hit from distance.

Let's talk after the end of the month. I think it's about to get a whole lot better.

Our schedule is gonna get pretty easy. We have 5 straight games coming up against <.500 teams.

I'd feel better about that if we weren't almost a sub .500 team.

    phoenix is 50/50

nets BETTER be an easy win

minny is due but i THINk we win

    sac should be a win

pacers are like knicks... they score at will and we have issues with teams like that 60/40 we win

clips are playing well 60/40 we win

    sac should be a win

    boston ALWAYS BEAT US

so that leaves us (my prediction) 5-3 or 4-4 which would put us at either 25-22 OR 24-23 which gets me back to my point about hovering around 500 all year. we really need to go 6-2 to get us 26-21 which is were we should be

I don't know, we brick wide open 3's all the time, does it matter if the team we play is above or below .50? I'd be interested to see if our shooting % differs much when we plat good or bad teams?

My post was in response to MIXUM's comment that this season just keeps getting worse. I'd say that the Blazers are likely to win at least 6 games out of the next 8. As to your question about whether the shooting percentage is better against worse teams, I don't have any data, but I'd bet that it is. As I said before, the Blazers shooting woes are largely a matter of confidence. When you're playing worse teams, it's easier to get on a roll.

I can't believe we are the worst in the league. That's so crazy considering that's ALL our plays are designed to do. Miller or Roy drive and dish to the Batume/Rudy/Wes/Patty guard standing at the 3pt line. WTF? I think we need a new shooting coach. Holy cow...

Yep, our offense has gone from the Roy iso and everyone else standing around at the 3-point line to the Aldridge iso with everyone else standing around at the 3-point line. Ever since Nate has been here, the success of the team, regardless of the personel has been predicated on our ability to hit the 3. For a few games, we had great ball movement and great player movement. It was fun to watch and the team had some success.

Then Nate reverted back to his comfort zone - the one dimensional 4th quarter iso/kick out as the shot clock is winding down based offense. It's no wonder we're last in the league in 3-point percentage. I'm sure we lead the league in rushed 3-point attempts to beat the shot clock. Nate's simplistic, one dimensional offense, is the easiest to scout and the easiest to stop. The only difference is now, it's the Aldridge iso instead of the Roy iso.

And, just to make sure the players don't get any ideas of trying anything else, Nate has now added yet another inconsistent 3-point shooter to the 4th quarter line-up. Why is it so hard for Nate to devise an offense that involves the the very basic principles of player movement and ball movement? Teams figured out how to stop the Roy iso based 4th quarter offense, and it's not going to be difficult for them to figure out how to stop the Aldridge iso based 4th quarter offense.

This team has been struggling to score in the 4th quarter for well over a year, and our head coach has yet to figure out a solution to this very real problem that is costing this team games it should win. Under Nate, I am convinced we will always have one player who is a marginal all-star and the rest of the roster full of guys who don't live up to their potential. Batum is in his 3rd season as a starter, but do we run ANY plays for him - other than just stand in the corner and wait for the kick out as the shot clock expires? Teams around the league supposedly covet this guy because they see all his untapped potential, but under Nate he is a one-dimensional spot up shooter.

Nate is a good motivator and good at teaching young players the basic fundamentals, but he is one of the worst offensive coaches I have ever seen. He's so determined to run the 4th quarter iso, he'll call it time after time when it's not working - even when the other team is playing a zone (nothing like playing a little 1 on 5 to kill you chances of scoring). This team will never get past the 1st round with Nate as the coach and players like Batum will never reach their full potential.

    BNM
