The good news: Roy could return to play sometime this season. The bad news: Roy's knees are still shot and meniscus transplant isn't an option to fix them. http://www.portlandtribune.com/sports/story.php?story_id=129488097244318900
The doctor says it might relieve some of the pain in his left knee. Not a cure, but maybe make it more manageable to play on.
Maybe it's just the way it was written but this part stood out to me: Does this mean the right knee isn't bone-on-bone? If so that makes me feel at least a tad bit better. Would leave a sliver of hope I suppose.
Yeah, like right after Andre is traded. What a coincidence. So that's their cover story when Roy gets back? He had surgery and feels much better? Yeah, that's the ticket....
BTW Eggers scooped every other media source yet again. What the hell are they doing at the Boregonian?
They're crying that Paul Allen won't make pompous speeches so they can find words to criticize him for. Today Canzano called him a coward. http://sportstwo.com/threads/177248-Canzano-on-the-soapbox-again
sounds like bandaid that may at best give him less pain in one knee - but for how long, a few weeks or months? This just drags out the process but perhaps is a necessary step to eventual retirement, try this and if it does not work Roy eventually retires.
So Roy feels less pain, which is good for him, but still is a shell of his former NBA self. The team then becomes what????ISO Roy, or ISO Aldridge?
yelling at Paul Allen for being a coward? Maybe if it means doing more work than looking through blinds (or calling Damon Stoudamire for a scoop), the Oregonian doesn't know what to do.
So was Eggers ;-) BTW the Oregonian sent like 20 writers to Arizona. There's coverage and there's overkill.
Indulge me, jlkprk, since I don't want to read Crapanzo's crap, what is Paul Allen supposed to make pompous speeches about? And in what lifetime is making speeches his job? IMHO, he can make a speech when the Blazers win the NBA championship.
It seems to me that we ought to see what Roy is able to do after a surgery before trying to figure out his role in the offense. In any event, even if he only plays spot minutes with the 2nd unit, after Tuesday's brick-fest, I don't see anything bad about having another player in uniform who can, you know, actually hit a basket.
I had previously stopped reading Canzano's article at the point at which he called Allen a coward. To respond to your request, I read the whole article. I put my summary into the thread in which it really belongs. http://sportstwo.com/threads/177248-Canzano-on-the-soapbox-again?p=2514246&viewfull=1#post2514246
