Per Hollinger: Jessie (Salem, OR) Do you think that Portland will do something come the trade deadline? If so what scenarios are there. John Hollinger (2:26 PM) I do expect the Blazers to make a move, with the expiring contracts of Andre Miller and Joel Przybilla the most likely to move. Rudy Fernandez is another one who could have a new home soon. I'd still be shocked if they dealt Batum, however, -- they aren't very deep at the 3 and they historically have been very reluctant to deal the kids. Also, I hear they're getting a lot of interference from the "Vulcans" there, so that's going to gum up the deal-making process. So, is it funny or sad that Hollinger and the national media is starting to poke fun at the Vulcans?
Isn't it obvious by now who's on the block and who isn't? I doubt we'll see guys like Aldridge or Matthews moved unless it's clearly in our favor. Now's the time to unload our expiring contracts for some young talent. I know it's been tough to go through so many years of rebuilding and have it all culminate in this, but I really think that we can rebuild on the fly and get back into contention with a few smart moves. Pritchard and Nash weren't able to capitalize on expiring deals, so I'm interested to see what Cho (and the Vulcans) can pull off within the next month. I just don't want to see Denver come in like they own the place and ask for more than Batum when the team is already hesitant to deal him away as it is. If the deal for Harris were to go through (for Joel and Nic), one would have to think that we'd have another deal lined up for 'Dre.
