The Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue to lock up key members of their team for the future, as they have signed defensive back Brandon Stewart to a contract extension. As per team policy, details of the agreements are not disclosed. "Brandon is a young player with a lot of upside," said Vice-President of Football Operations and General Manager Joe Mack. "He showed a lot of progression last year and we'll be looking for him to take that next step and be a key contributor on defense next season." Stewart played in every game last year for the Blue Bombers which included making six starts at the halfback position and one start on the corner. He finished the year with 27 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery. Stewart was also a key special teams player and chipped in with eight tackles and one reception on a fake punt that he caught for 27 yards on Labour Day. "Winnipeg is a great place to play football and it's nice to feel wanted," said the 24-year old Eastern Arizona Junior College graduate. "I'm hoping to be able to keep improving my game so that I can personally help this team win a Grey Cup."
