Obviously he needs some work, but he's looking a little better. The interesting thing to see is how badly his teammates are adjusting to him. They are just so used to having either Camby or Aldridge at center they keep trying to use Prz the same way. Prz rules within the offense: #1. Don't pass it to him if his feet are moving. Ever. He simply isn't able to coordinate the concept of moving, catching, moving more, and then passing or shooting. Never has been. You might get lucky as we did once tonight, but most of the time it's a turnover as it was twice tonight. #2. Unlike LA and Camby, the dude lives to set nasty screens. Guys like Batum, Mills, Matthews and Rudy need to remember that. Rudy, why run all over the court to get open when you can just squeeze past Przybilla? #3. Feed him a dunk at the rim if you can, but otherwise pretty much ignore him. That's about it. Camby and Aldridge are swiss army knives on offense. Przybilla is a really heavy rock. That's no insult to anyone. Each have their applications. But just don't try to use one like the other.
Ya, I cringe whenever Patty or Rudy throw it to Joel at the FT line on the move and expect him to do something with it. (Rudy, especially, should know better). But some of it is on Joel still not being 100% healthy. He used to kill it on the pick and rolls a few years ago with Sergio (and NVE, Damon before that). It's nice to see him get back somewhat. We definitely need a big presence.
You can pass it to Joel on the pick and roll when it's: roll, catch, one step, dunk. Otherwise, I cringe when they pass it to him away from the basket, especially when he's moving, or when they lob it in to him in traffic. Oye. It was nice to see Joel actually win a couple of rebound battles tonight. For a guy who has endured I don't know how much pain experiencing and recovering from multiple knee injuries, the guy is fearless, especially taking the charge. Gotta love a guy like Joel.
sounds like we will need him. nate just said "we will know more tomorrow" on camby thats usually bad news
I have season tickets and know most of the people that work around my seats... i know this is not really worth much but one of the people working in the rose garden told me there is supposed to be a joel andre trade this week. why im posting this is if joel does get traded what would you guys think about us resigning him in the offseason?
I'd guess the odds are pretty good that we'd at least try. That's exactly what we did with Steve Blake. I'm guessing Portland could probably have him for a couple of million. He's not going to get the minutes here to build enough value to overcome all his injury history. So he'd be a low budget big man.
So what happend to Camby? As usual I got the opposing team's announcers and did not hear anything about the injury.
Oh its true! And the reports are.... Camby is walking with a stiff left knee. jwquick Talked to Marcus Camby as he left the Rose Garden: MRI on his left knee scheduled for tomorrow. Says there is "minimal swelling" 2 minutes ago via web
Darko = making centers look better than they normally do. i am going to wait and see if Joel can continue to play slightly below average before I get excited.
Przy is rounding into basketball shape. He won't be the player he was, but that doesn't mean he's going to continue to look like Vlad Stepanovic.
Yea I guess that is why he played against Denver the last time we played them. And the Knicks the last time we played them... He has played for like 1/4 of the teams in the league. So it is kind of doubful.
