Blake has been playing at a high level for longer. And for as well as Aldridge has been playing in January, Griffin has been playing better -- and the Clips have responded with wins against the Lakers, Heat, and Denver this month.

IMO, it won't come down to these two. I think LA's competition will be Duncan and ZBo or Gay.

since LMA started his streak of good games on Dec 17 Griffin has put up 27/14 shooting over .560. you could argue Griffin is the most valuable player in the league right now. it's a huge compliment to LMA that he is anywhere close to that. hopefully they both make it in and Love does not.

I voted for aldridge just because he's been around longer and has never been an all star, kind of a homer vote.

I see both of these guys as making it and Love the guy who is on the outside looking in. The whole fact that the West doesn't have a center worth a damn to make the all star game at this point plays in their favor as well to make the team.

Here is my problems with Kevin Love and him making the all star game: Team record. He never gets any sportcenter worthy highlights. His defense sucks, both of the guys he is competing with are decent defenders.

I was watching a game yesterday and don't remember who said it, I think Van Gumby, but he was going in the same direction as you. Players with lesser stats on winning teams should be placed ahead of players with bigger stats on losing teams. Being the best player on a crappy team doesn't make you an allstar. I'm inclined to agree. That said, I voted for Griffin, overcoming my homer instincts simply because he's phenomenal. He's been consistent. And the team is starting to get with him and they're getting big wins. I do think LaMarcus is carrying the Blazers right now. Without him we're not much. It's a close one but I think Griffin has just done that much more even for a losing team.

I voted for Griffin too. He is the more spectacular player, better highligh reel, more entertaining, better wow-factor etc. I think NBA fans would rather see Griffin than LMA in the AS Game. It doesn't mean that LMA's a less skilled player or less valuable player, just a less entertaining player.

Have the named the coach for the West? That will be huge on determining who gets picked as reserves.

Griffin has been in beast mode from the jump. LMA took about a month and a half to get really hot. Using that criteria and the fact that the Clippers are actually starting to look like a scary team gives Blake the edge in my opinion. That said both deserve to get in over Love given their vastly superior defense.

Other than "the Clippers are actually starting to look like a scary team" giving Blake the edge (I don't think that should be a factor), I agree with everything else. Beast mode all season trumps beast mode for a month.

If Aldridge establishes this as his new level of play, he should be a lock for next year's All Star game.

Clippers still suck with Griffin as their #1 guy. Trail Blazers are a playoff contender with LaMarcus as their #1 guy.

By end of season the Clippers will be in the playoff mix IMO, and will probably be in a similar record to the Blazers. In the beginning of the season, the Clippers were banged up and not on the same page. Now they are starting to get healthy, and they have been winning at about a .500 clip for a while now. Pun fully intended.

It's based on best conference record so Pop has it locked up

Makes no difference since all the head coaches vote for the reserves (and they can't vote for their own players anyway).

I voted for Griffin because he "deserves" the spot more than LMA. I think LMA should get he nod though.

Griffin will be in the Rookie/Sophmore game so he'll be there all-star weekend. He might be in the slam dunk competition too.

You're wrong, and you're not paying close enough attention.

IMO, both are playing out-of-their-minds good and are deserving of an All-Star spot. I think there's a good chance that they both make the squad and Love is left on the outside looking in. That said, Aldridge is flat-out carrying his team to a better record than Griffin's Clippers.

Griff's Clippers are 10-4 since 12/17, the same period that LMA's Blazers are 10-6. I hope both make it, personally... Blake is All-Star Game material (flashy, larger than life play on the court, dunks like a maniac). I also worry that LMA might stop trying so hard if he misses the ASG... or he may beast harder in anger for being snubbed... I don't know what he'll do.

How am I wrong? The Clippers have been playing damn good ball lately and Griffin has been doing his thing all season--not just the past month or so like LMA.

Also, this has very little to do with it, but like stated a few times above, Griffin's game is much flashier and is better suited for an entertainment game like the ASG.
