The San Jose Sharks have acquired forward Ben Eager from the Atlanta Thrashers in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2011 NHL entry draft. Doug Wilson, the Sharks' executive vice president and general manager, made the announcement on Tuesday. Eager, 27, played in 34 games with Atlanta this season, posting three goals, seven assists, a plus-4 rating and 77 penalty minutes. He currently is serving a four-game suspension for sucker-punching Toronto Maple Leafs winger Colby Armstrong in a Jan. 7 game. During that game, his overall performance had a huge, detrimental effect on the Thrashers. His four penalty minutes late in the first period for roughing and cross-checking led to a power-play goal, and late in the second period, Eager's sucker punch to Armstrong led to four more power-play goals.
