Welcome to 2 months ago. This team was never going to do anything this year. They traded two productive bench guys for virtually nothing, and Greg and joel weren't going to be anything close to what they once were at best. Roy was already hobbling as well. This team should have been broken up already
it is unreal how people are forgetting how long it takes to become a good team again. you have to hit a homerun in the draft to have a chance. these same people will bitch and moan how bad we suck. you retool not rebuild. dont know why thats so tough to understand.
Man, when MIXUM is the voice of sanity around here, you know we've crossed into an alternate and crazy universe.
I think this setback can give Nate an opportunity open up our offense even more. Rather than putting Dante @ 4, I'd like Nic to be @ 4 and Rudy back in as starter, so that we can go extra small and push the ball everytime.
i think they HAVE to make a make for depth alone. with that said..... for all rebuilders.... what pick do you really expect us to get? we at worst will get 33-34 wins and pick around 9th-11th which means project in a horrible draft with a lockout. and you wanna trade our vets for late 1st rounders? to get more aarmon johnsons? what a joke you rebuilders are. you want jonny flynn? he sucks on the fucking timberwolves. trade for good players. be the buyers. not this horse shit of trading talent for nothing. go find john nash if thats what u like.
You know it takes 2 to trade, whether rebuilding or not. With all the players that are hurt on this team right now, look at the short list of players who would be "trade bait". Do any of you see the pieces to get something done there? If you were a GM on another team, do any of them look good to you? It seems pretty obvious to me why no deals have been made. There are a few pieces that are keepers, and we would probably gain nothing from trading them. The rest of the players really aren't worth jack dick on the trade market. They are either hurt, or have been hurt, or they aren't worth anything more than salary cap compensation.
In all honesty.... We cant trade miller unless we get a PG back. We cant trade joel now unless we get a center back with camby hurt. Cho realistically have to offer draft picks, Rudy, Aarmon Johnson, and Luke Babbit unless Miller and Pryz bring back the same positions. Who in gods name would want Aarmon Johnosn?
Correct. Which is the exact point I was making above. The few players that are worth value, are also indispensable to the team. The others, are lucky to be on an NBA roster. We may just have to ride this one out until the draft, and hope for the best.
Who's talking about "jumping off of a bridge?" A team can only take so much and Camby is/was a key pillar keeping the roof from collapsing in on itself. So where you think this is jumping off a bridge, really the bridge is about to fall out from underneath our feet; the question is, do you want to go down with it (ie. holding onto aging assets and getting nothing in return) or do you want to make a dash for the bank and try to keep from getting soaked? That is to say flipping these older guys with no future with the team for something even if that something is just draft picks and potential.
Ugh. Babbitt. What a wasted pick. I'm not as angry about the Webster trade as I am about the draft. Seraphin, Pittman, and Whiteside were right there for the taking, and we passed on them.
I think the most disturbing part about Babbit to me so far, is the fact with the weak ass lineup that we are fielding this year that he hasn't even cracked the rotation as a backup. I expect most first rounders to at least get some bench time, especially when that 1st round draft pick plays a position the team is weak in. Right now we run Batum at SF, and rotate a SG out of position there for backup. What does that say about Babbit? We play a guy out of position before we play you. That, isn't good.
only way cho can make a deal is draft picks. seriously if we trade miller or joel for picks.... we wont be able to field a team
Rice and MB keep raving about his shooting in practice. I don't think Nate is convinced. How cool would it be if he got some PT and broke out into a legit contributor?
When we got Camby, that made Juwan Howard expendible... NOT IN MY OPINION!!!!!!! Camby has a history of injuries and I saw this coming.
Juwan Howard left us. We didn't dump him. The guy went ring shopping, for more sun and for no income tax. Can you blame him?
Even if we don't make any massive trades; what is the purpose of having Sean Marks on the roster? Is he gonna make the difference between going to the playoffs or not. If we can really get Anthony Randolph for a draft pick, when are we gonna do it? or we could pick up Sean Williams out of the D-league. this guy is only 24, a terrific athlete and supposedly is staying out of trouble and working harder. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/D-League-Showcase-Profiles-Call-Up-Candidates-Part-One--3616/ It seems like it would be worth it to start trying to find some young big guy who could play for years.
Miller, Camby, and Joel are in their dotage, and won't be around when the league returns in the fall of 2012. Trade them, or let them sit in their wheelchairs until they grow mold - they are not part of the team's future. Why is that so hard to understand?
