http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2011/jan/14/grizzlies-zach-randolph-honored-nbas-community-ass/ How come our guys aren't winning this award? I thought our team was supposed to be about character.
The man is keeping the Hoop Family afloat by his own self and supports a gaggle of strip clubs. If that's not community assist, what is?
Oh you know how it is. Zbo is just trying to pull one again in order to look good after he nearly got busted for funding a Marijuana operation last summer.
That is just too fucking sweet. The Blazers traded one of their most productive players, during his early prime, for cents on the dollar - with the justification that he wasn't really that good - since then he has been an All-Star - and also to try to placate whiny folks who bitched about team image - since then he has won an NBA "good guy" award. Lesson. "Planning" is for idiots. The second you think you have a "plan" all worked out that you can follow step by step to lead to success is the moment you have failed. Throwing away a decent player for cents on the dollar was stupid then and is stupid in retrospect. Buy Low. Sell high. Buy low. Sell high. Repeat as often as possible.
Yep he has been so good, that he hasn't been to the playoffs since he was teamed with Scottie Pippen and Rasheed Wallace. Stat Bo fills up the stats. But he doesn't get you wins.
with cambys injury... which will be ironic... he will take the 8th seed from blazers. talk about coming back to haunt us
What the hell does this comment have to do with: "Buy Low, Sell High". Who or what are you arguing against?
By the way, Zach's Win Shares per/48 this season: .171 Last season: .153 Both are higher than LaMarcus this season. Both are higher than any Blazer this season. Last season "Stat-Bo" racked up 9.7 Win Shares. Update your data.
Zach wasn't "sold high" in this two stints after Portland, and Memphis isn't sure they want to resign him and look willing to let him go the UFA route. I still wonder what happened to the FBI investigation that was connected to Zach's storage facilities. Is it still ongoing? Has Zach's role been clarified? http://nba.fanhouse.com/2010/05/27/zach-randolph-implicated-in-drug-bust/ A more cynical person might say that a guy without a contract, and with drug charges hanging over his head, is throwing money around to try and create an image that he's never had before. Whatever the reason, I'm sure the people who received his generosity are very appreciative. It's too bad that Zach had to spend years being a complete asshole, and be faced with contract uncertainty and potential federal drug charges, before deciding to give back.
A more cynical person than who? You like to insinuate without substance. You should write briefs to the Court from lawyers.
Zach doesn't have a contract for next year, and Memphis didn't give him an extension when they could have last summer. Zach has been named, or at least storage units tied to him, in a large drug case being investigated by federal agents. Those are known facts. As far as insinuating, to me it is more likely that a guy facing a very uncertain future, and potentially facing federal charges, would do all he can to create a "Good Guy" image ASAP. That said, I have no idea if that is why he suddenly is playing the role of solid citizen, and as I also mentioned, the end result is that he is helping people. I do find that those who automatically took the opportunity to bash the Blazers over this news to be somewhat gullible, though, and lacking any intellectual curiosity on this article regarding potential motives, and what how Zach could benefit from good publicity. If this is only about how great a guy Zach is, why take that opportunity to bash the team that one allegedly "roots" for?
