I think he is too good for us also. He should definately take his "talents" to South Beach

I've always thought he wanted to bolt for a bigger market since he started doing he 1-year extensions. Fine by me if he bolts.

He wanted to sign an extension last year, but the Blazers said no

IF he leaves we are very likely to get a worse coach than him, unfortunately. He might not be the best coach in the NBA - but there are not many that are better than him, imho.

I would love to see him go to LA or Miami and screw up rotations and run iso after iso. If it's between these two teams, I think he'll choose LA so that he can reunite with Blake.

A team that started Dante Cunningham at center won an NBA game last night.

    This really happened.

Agree! If he leaves, which I doubt he would, I'll be pissed that we no longer have Monty waiting to fill the role as head coach.

This is the usual Canzano piece...no real information so he just makes stuff up and passes it off as a column. That said, I'd be sorry to see Nate go if it happens. I think he's gotten more out of the crappy hands he's been dealt here in Portland than anybody has a right to expect.

That's why it is an opinion column. :)

I tend to believe Kenny Vance's version of events -- that Nate wanted an extension over the summer but was rebuffed. That said I think both sides probably want a divorce after all of the trials and negative vibes that have overwhelmed this team.

Monty Williams has a team with 2 All-Stars, one of whom is the best PG in the NBA, only 4 games ahead of Portland half-way through the season.

I'll wait and reserve judgement on Monty as a head coach.

I love opinion columns, but I prefer ones that have a few facts in them. All this column is saying is Nate's contract is up and he might go somewhere else. I need a job where I can get away with that level of insight.

Nate holds most of his cards. He can leave if he wants to. He may stay also - hoping - that our injuries heal and we get all our talent back on the court.
But, no question, LAL, Orlando, Miami could all be in play for Nate. But, he's also been a firm NW kinda guy! He won't leave for just any job.

We've still got Terry in the wings. He's had some experience (good and bad). I liked the job he did in Milwaukee a few yrs ago.

McMillian is too good for many of Portland's ungrateful armchair gm "fans"

This. Only a handful of coaches have done an equal or better job than McMillan over the past few years, and none of them are available to us next season if Nate leaves.

Seeing as we are no longer a contender or a potential contender, my desire to see nate leave is waning. He's great at keeping a shitty team motivated and that's what we need right now.

I'd take my chances on Pop's longtime right hand man, Mike Budenholzer. Believe it or not, I'd take Van Gundy too.
