<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>In the spirit of the playoffs (and the marathon wait between games) I've been watching some games from the 90's (Bulls/Knicks and Bulls/Lakers series) What a different game back then, the game flowed much smoother, without some player randomly jumping inside an offensive player and exaggerating contact, like its World Cup soccer. Looking back from then to now, its amazing how much flopping has infiltrated the league since then. When did the madness start?</div> Has it always been around or is it European players?
Nah, it's always been around. Dennis Rodman used to flop a ton when he was with the Pistons, especially when they played MJ and the Bulls in the early '90s. That Detroit team did anything you can think of to win a basketball game, which is a positive and negative statement.
I'm not really sure who started the whole flopping trend, but it seems like Vlade Divac was the one that made it famous by flopping all over the place.
I would have to think it was the Euro players that started it, they use it maily because European players are never really know for having good defense. Yea Rodman used it, but seems like start more often around in the 2000's. Like Valo said, Vlade Divac made it popular
well the euro's brought it in to the league, and the other players just started catching on because it works. its the leagues fault for allowing it to happen. as a spurs fan, i get so used to it that i just laugh. i dont like it but i think its the leagues fault for allowing it to happen.
Flopping started on July 28, 1977 - the day Manu Ginobili was born. LOL I'm jk. But yes, it does tend to be more common with Euro's for some reason. I mean yes, it can benefit your team, but come on, I believe it is getting way out of hand. Nowadays if someone barely touches someone in the post, the defender miraculously falls, even though when they show the replay there was no contact made in the direction of the fall lol. It's crazy now.
I think it's always been there, not just europeans. It's just done more in today's game then in the past, that makes it more noticeable. I don't get why some of you are putting it on europeans to be honest. If your a smart player, your going to act a little on a bump to get a call. Any player, not just europeans will do that.
well i dont know when it started but heres a list of my top 5 floppers, let me kno if i missed any 1.Vlade Divac2.Manu Ginobli3.Dennis Rodman4.Raja Bell5.isiah rider
I think that it started even before the Euros came in. I think that the European players came in with a big soccer background, and soccer, if you've ever watched 5 minutes of it, has just blatant flopping. Guys get tapped in the back, and roll over about three times. I think the basketball players picked it up from soccer, and then gave it to the US guys when they got into the legaue.
i think it's funny how soccer players flop like that. world cup soccer is pretty tight too. anyway a good flop is now part of a good defense. so you better learn it, love it or not. 'cause you'll get calls.
I love flopping. :happy0144: I used to hate it until Raja came here, but it helps out the team a lot especially if the other team is getting all the calls.
Ya, flopping started with Dennis and Vlade, also all you mavs fans that hate ginobili cause he flops take a look at dirk, he also does his fair share of flopping.
it's been around, but Euro's revolutionized it. It used to be the occasional falldown or something, but these vaginas from Europe brought it to a whole new level.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>all you mavs fans that hate ginobili cause he flops take a look at dirk, he also does his fair share of flopping.</div>That is exactly me feelings. Dirk is probably just as bad as Ginobili, but the Mavs seem to conveniently forget that.
