So, Dallas gets another soft, streaky no defending player?

I see Cuban hasn't learned anything in the last 7 years.

Peja has been very productive this season when he can get on the court. A 20.2 PER is no joke. Maybe he is this year's Mario Elie?

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Cho could easily get Peja for Batum. Status Cho's inability to swing a trade strikes again. :sigh:

Free agents won't sign here. He could have traded with the Raptors before Peja was waived.

Toronto waived Peja. They didn't trade him (and his big expiring contract), they didn't keep him and use him off the bench, they waived him. Whatever his PERS is, doesn't sound like he had much NBA value.

No that just further proves his inability to swing trades... he should have traded for Peja when he was a Hornet.... or better yet, Cho should have traded for Peja when he was a King. Cho just obviously doesn't have the skills to make a major deal.

He is shooting 45% from 3pt in limited action this year. I don't expect him to play huge minutes for Dallas, but the guy can still stretch the floor. For a contending team like Dallas, why not take a shot on him? Basically, by waiving him, Toronto got rid of that contract anyhow without taking in another player. He'd count on their books either way this season. They aren't close to contending for a title, so what value did his expiring contract have other than clearing cap space?

I find the waiving of Peja pretty much irrelevant for Toronto, other than Dallas getting some more perimeter shooting.

Toronto had to buy Peja out because they couldn't trade him. They still have to pay him. Waiving a player doesn't get rid of their contract.

I see why Dallas does this, they get Peja for cheap while Toronto pays most of his salary.

I thought I read that he wanted out of Toronto to go to a winner, so he accepted a buyout at way less than his contract value. He could have stayed and collected the full contract. So he caused the waiving. They could have traded him, but he gave up enough money so that he'd be waived, so that he'd be in control of where he went.

Jerry Stackhouse out there still. Is there any reason we wouldn't want a guy who would surely generate 10 points of offense off the bench at SF here? You can pretty much pencil him in for 8 to 10 points a night off the bench. That would improve the bench productivity immediately.

I think Jerry is a headcase though. No thanks.

Reports I heard were Toronto was unable to trade him.

But the real question is what did the raptors pay to be able to cut him lose? I'm guessing they going to end up paying him around 10 million this year. (Couldn't find the answer on a quick search)
