Well... he's from Portland and he used to work for the Pacers so I don't find it especially surprising.
I think he's trying to corner the market on below average PGs. He already made Flynn and Rubio high lottery pics and then signed both Ridnour and Telfair as free agents, Now he's after Patty Mills and Armon Johnson! He's looking to invent a new style of ball based on the subminiatre line-up. He's thinking of luring Don Nelson out of retirement to coach his all-PG all-the-time line-up. It will make the Run TMC days in Golden State look like a bunch of big, slow guys. BNM
An offer of Milicic or Koufos for Batum would be my guess. Probably figured that if he showed up in person to talk with Cho he could really make his case.
I did see a shot of Cho laughing heartily at his phone, then putting it in his pocket... I wonder if Khan was calling from across the lower bowl.
"So hey Rich -- you don't mind if I call you Rich do you? -- anyway, I heard about Camby; tough break, tough break ... yeah ... really tough break. So yeah anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, I've got this guy Darko, really great kid, manna from Heaven really, passes like Divac. Well, anyway I'd hate to lose him, but it looks like you've got all of these small forwards in Johnson, Rudy, Dante, LMA, Patty, Joel and that Nic Batum kid, so anyway how about you swap one of those superfluous 3s -- Nic specifically -- and I'll let you have Darko "Divac" Milicic ... Rich? ... You still there? ... Hello? ..."
The Wolves must be in town waiting for their next game. Let's look it up...They play the Blazers in 23 days. There it is.
He grew up in Portland...I used to play pickup ball with him all the time a the Jewish Community Center. He once scolded me for walking out on a pick up game after he called 2 offensive fouls on me...I got an email a few days later from my uncle who grew up with Kahn and is still really close to him...he said if I ever wanted to play in the NBA I would need to apologize. I feel stupid to this day because he probably would have signed me to play PG for the Wolves....
