So I see a lot of threads about being so many games over .500, etc. Has anybody bothered to actually look at the standings? The Blazers are only 4 games back of 5th place New Orleans Hornets. The Blazers are only 3 games back from the slumping Jazz 6th place. The Blazers are only 2 games back of Denver 7th place. The Blazers are only 5 games back from OKC and Dallas. 5 games. Please note, that is in the "loss" column which I consider the most important. We may not only be going to the playoffs. We may even move up. Hell maybe if we get lucky, New Orleans will continue to struggle and fall right out of the playoffs and hand us a lottery pick.
We could be within one game of Utah after they lose their back to back against the L@kers and Spurs and we beat the Kings. NOH has won 8 straight and are 13 games over .500 - I wish we could struggle like that!
I said before the home losses to Miami and New York that simply looking at a home/away remaining schedule overlooks the fact that we have a lot of tough opponents remaining. Likewise, we're wrapping up the softest portion of the schedule and the upcoming Boston-San Antonio-Denver-Indiana stretch could undo the 5-game winning streak's good vibes in a hurry. I just don't think we have the personnel (without Roy and Camby) to stay much over .500 as the schedule gets tougher.
As long as we're the 6th seed or higher, I'll be happy. Facing the L*kers or Spurs in the 1st round would just be four depressing games.
The kings game is a big game. With the upcoming schedule... We need to be 6 games over heading into Boston game
But wouldn't it just be awful to maybe match up with a Dallas team that is beat up? If they are lucky Butler comes back from his knee injury by then.
There's no way we get anything better then 8th. I will not post again all summer if we finish higher then 8th
Ahhh, yes, there's that fandom in you. "If the Blazers succeed, I'll go away". How anyone thinks you aren't 100% troll I'll never know.
i hope they do. this place sucks in the summer. but cmon now.... grizz, suns, and houston are on our ass bIg time. the schedule gets brutal soon. no camby. i mean could denver fall out? yes. but even so theres no reason to believe this team could or will get anything better then 8th seed.
The Grizzlies and Suns are 3.5 games behind the Blazers and the Rockets are 5 games back. If that constitutes being "on our ass big time", then I guess the Blazers are on the ass big time of the Nuggets (.5 game ahead) as well as Dallas, Oklahoma, and New Orleans (4 games back). If the Blazers can hold on until Camby gets back, and if perhaps Roy is back after the All-Star Game, then who knows what the potential for this team is. You love to make flat out statements that "there's no way" the Blazers do so-and-so. The problem is, they keep proving you wrong. Perhaps you need to revise your estimation of the team and your own knowledge of the NBA.
Oh man, can you imagine if we play OKC and Oden makes a return or something ridiculous like that? But I guess that's why it's ridiculous =]
oden likely wont ever wear 52 for blazers ever again and ..... IF...... we can hold on. Thats a huge IF.
If the Blazers finish worse than the 8th seed, I will reveal my real identity! (hint: I'm the fat kid from Stand By Me: )
