Ryan (Chicago) Any chance the Bulls can acquire OJ Mayo at the trade deadline? Chris Sheridan (2:15 PM) I continue to hear that the guy the Bulls have their sights on is J.R. Smith of the Nuggets. Ironically, they gave him away to Denver for Howard Eisley and two second-round picks in the summer of 2006. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/36635
I haven't heard anything that makes sense regarding Smith. Who would be be trading to get him? To make a deal work, you'd almost have to include Korver, Brewer or CJ, I think. I think it's nonsense. Also, I don't find him all that attractive as a player.
In the abstract I have no problem taking a chance on Smith. but with his salary and expiring contract it is hard to conceive a deal that would make sense.
If Denver moves Melo, I bet they buy out guys like Kenyon Martin and JR Smith to save even a few bucks. That's the only way I see the bulls picking up Smith. Anthony Parker is another guy like that.
I wouldn't mind Smith, because he'd give us a much needed scoring boost at the SG spot. My only question is would he even be useful to this team. Tom likes his defensive players...and we all know how good JR is on defense.
FWIW http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/holl...n.go.com/nba/hollinger/statistics?order=false Bogans has the 7th worst PER in the entire NBA. The next Bull on that dubious list is Asik at 77.
