No water, no fire, lots of injuries.

    Coincidence?

By turning off the fire and water doesn't that destroy the Feng Shui at the home of the Blazers?

Seriously like 6 years ago. Some code violation. But you may have something here. Maybe that fire was to please the gods!

I thought it was broken...I'd heard from someone in the marketing dept that it was bookoo expensive to fix...

More expensive than fixing our broken players?

They should break it out for advertisement. For instance, I think that the "Fire on the Mountain Fountain" is a really good idea. Just put signs around it that if you fuck up, it's your problem.

The Rose Quarter experience has to be one of the worst in all pro sports. So lame. It's a damn shame.

Well they wanted to change that, but people freaked out about tearing down the Coliseum.

I suggest you take a look around. I have found most NBA arenas have almost the exact same, canned experience.

I'm not talking about the ROSE GARDEN I'm talking about the over all Quarter experience. No bars, the fountain is off, it's just very boring. The Garden freakin' rocks. Well, we make it rock.

I interned for the Blazers a few years ago and while getting a tour by some random employee, I was told that it was permanently shut off because it symbolized the "Jail Blazers."

The thinking behind it had to do with this logo,

The logic was that the logo was used in the peak of the jail blazers era and featured fire... so the Blazers didn't want fans to look at the fire outside and remember the jail blazers.

Who knows what the real reason is, but an employee told me that.

I completely believe you were told that but it seems like a crock of crapola to me.

Considering that we haven't won a playoff series since it was turned off and then throw in all the injuries and freaky bad luck and they need to turn it back on.

    What could it hurt?

I don't associate anything with the water/fire thing. But to think fans associate it with the Jail Blazers?

    That's a bit deep.

btw, some of my co-workers, who are at best fringe fans, still know about the "Jail Blazers". I don't have the heart to tell them they're now the "Frail Blazers". :)
