He was never named or called Eric Clapp. I knew this a long time. This is the story. Clapton was born to Molly Clapton and Edward Walter Fryer, a Canadian Soldier. Now Molly was quite young so what happened, Clapton was raised believing that his grandparents, who's surname was Clapp, as his parents and his mother as his sister. They kept this from Clapton until he was 9 years old. So anyways, his grandparents last name was Clapp, but his was, has, and forever will be Clapton.
