Re: Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg (Jan. 29th)

They're worried because two title fights could mean 10 five-minute rounds to broadcast. They are a bit notorious for going over their time limit (not like PPV that gives the UFC 4 hours if they need it). They can broadcast the best fight(s) of the prelims if the need to fill up time by not announcing which ones will be broadcast.

In case anyone forgot, this event goes off this weekend. Diaz vs. Santos should be a barn burner.

Nathan Coy missed weight. He needs to lose 1/4lb.

Any chance that Cyborg upsets Diaz?

Possible but unlikely, IMHO. Nick has a great chin.

Watched the last two fights. Nothing really unexpected and little implications for either. But thats a strikeforce card for you. Heard Hershel Walker looked good but haven't seen it yet.

Nice armbar by Diaz, thats probably why people don't take him down all that much.

Re: Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg (Jan. 29th)

Should be interesting to see Paul Daley vs. Diaz. Diaz's chin has held up lately against some good strikers in Santos and Noons and I believe he got floored early by Zaromskis before coming back to KO him. Daley's probably on another level than those guys though, that said Diaz does seem to be a very difficult guy to gameplan for. Obviously most of these strikers don't want to get him on the ground and its not an issue since Diaz is mostly content to stand and trade. Most guys also can't go more than a few rounds with him. But if he doesn't go down when you hit him with your best stuff early then you're pretty much screwed right? Dude refuses to implement any sort of defense and takes the damage which results but he just keeps on coming. Perhaps wrestling him and controlling him on the ground is best but you're susceptible to a sub and obviously neither wrestling nor BJJ is really in Daley's arsenal.

Daley will be a true test of Diaz' chin though. You'd think Nick would wise up and respect Daley's power but he was far from weary standing with Noons and Santos.

I loled at this quote from Herschel Walker:

Re: Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg (Jan. 29th)

Just watched the Herschel fight, pretty unimpressive yet again. Makes me wonder how many former pro athletes will get into MMA over the next several years though. He got into it very late but he'd be pretty nuts if he started soon after leaving football. Undertaker says he'd have tried it out. James Johnson of the Bulls says he certainly plans on continuing his fighting career after basketball- he already won an MMA bout at the age of 18, is 20-0 as a kick boxer and comes from an insane martial arts family. Seems like that will probably be a trend in the future; and largely a source of embarrassment for MMA faithful who aren't a fan of the Bobby Lashley, Herschel Walker type of freak show fights. I mean they're making legit attempts at MMA but both are only on cards because of their names and SF needs to find the can-iest of cans for them to crush. And one of the cans already crushed Lashley.

Shame Cyborg gassed but if you expected anything else you probably haven't seen him fight before. His take-down was desperate and Diaz wasted little time submitting him from his back.

Didn't see the other fights... I'll post video as it is available.

Yeah, thats what confused me about the plethora of leg kicks. Seemed like a good strategy in general but I kept thinking "even if Diaz's legs are jello in the 3rd, 4th, 5th Santos won't be able to take advantage". And after he was drilling Diaz repeatedly you really knew that his already poor gas tank wasn't going to last long at all.

And lmao at the interview in the above post. Diaz bros are fucking nuts but its so entertaining. The socal rant out of nowhere lol, I saw him shit talking some guy from the cage right after the fight too. Pure gold.

 His rant about SoCal is great.

Fuck, I don't like Nate. I like Nick, though. He's won me over.

Dude is ALWAYS looking around like someone has put a hit out on him.
