"Clippers rookie Blake Griffin is a gladiator on the court, but it is possible to get under his skin. It took a 38-year-old small forward to prove it. After Griffin's 18-point, nine-rebound first half, Suns defensive fix-it-all Grant Hill took the assignment and held Griffin to two points (on free throws) and two rebounds in the third quarter. Griffin made two shots in the second half - a jumper and a 3-point play - before fouling out with five second-half fouls. "He has the effort and desire to want to do it," Suns coach Alvin Gentry said of Hill. "He takes pride in it. You have to be close enough (to Griffin) to get under his skin." Hill defended Griffin physically whether he had the ball or not, unnerving the 6-foot-10, 251-pound rookie into verbal and physical reactions. "If he's going to be out there talking trash, I've got to say something to him," Hill said. "I go against Kobe (Bryant) and LeBron (James) and some of the great ones and they don't say nothing. The first-year guys shouldn't say anything either. But he is a great player. I've got a lot of respect for him. I like him. But when you're competing you don't like him. When you're competing, you've got to fight. Hopefully, I don't have to guard him too many more times in the future."" I like this article. You rarely hear about the edgy side to Grant Hill; its usually just a peaches and cream lifestyle with a humble guy with a lovely wife. This article definitely gives him more props for being effective at age 38 and getting healthy after his disastrous career with the Magic.
I don't know any person who doesn't like Grant Hill. Met him three or four times. Amazing human being.
