Japanese challenger Akifumi Shimoda won the WBA super-bantamweight title Monday by beating Ryol Li Lee of Japan in a unanimous decision. Shimoda sent Lee to the canvas three times during the 12-round bout at Ariake Colosseum. The scores were 115-111, 118-109, 118-109 in favor of Shimoda. The 26-year-old Shimoda improved to 23-2 (10 KOs) with one draw while Lee dropped to 17-2 (8 KOs) with one draw.
