I'm not so sure I'd fully agree with that.

There's an opening for Director of Development where your wife works. Why don't you apply?

Well, you're getting older, so I'll let that slip. Fact is, the reason I wasn't ready to leave Atlanta was because, at the time, I was gainfully employed, the wife was well into her (ultimate, failing) business, and I wanted to hold out for the aforementioned severance. It wasn't a bad move. Besides, the wife hates cold weather, and she wasn't too keen on the idea.

    hindsight, though.

Is that why why was mad when she found out you passed on it?

Again, in hindsight, had we made that move (to Bend), I would have probably lost only $50k on her business, as opposed to the +$125k I ultimately lost.....severance notwithstanding.

No disrespect intended, but our recollections of these things are 100% apart since you split with your wife. Anyway, off to get my sleep.

I checked with Chris, That job came open in January, 2009 and they would have held it for you until sometime in February, 2009. When were you laid off? Wasn't it November or December of 2008? Or am I wrong on this one?

Sorry, you might want to re-check your facts. You're off by a whole year. The position was open in January, 2008. I wasn't informed of my layoff until October, 2008. By that time, the position had been well filled. We moved back to Portland in March, 2009.

Two grown step-daughters (for SURE they'd come visit!). I do have three (step) grandchildren.....whom the ex is doing everything in her power to keep me from seeing. All I can come up with there is...they love me more than they love her...and she's terribly jealous/vindictive. Truly, it's a sucky situation...at best.

ABM, I think you should give it a shot. Life's too short to have lots of regrets. God knows I have my share of those. You can always come back in a year or two if things don't seem to be working out like you envisioned. I think your step-daughters would appreciate having somebody in Hawaii they can visit too!
