...and would he be a good fit?! It seems like G.S. would be a good trade partner right about now since they are continuing their dominance at the bottom
i heard an espn talking head say they are talking about moving curry b/c he conflicts with ellis. not sure how legit that was or just rumor tho.... biedrins is an interesting option tho. i think that could work in portland
Re: OT: Is Biendrins Available?! He won't be available, so how about sophomore Jordan Williams? http://www.nbadraft.net/players/jordan-williams 6-10 260 17/12 Seemingly good athleticism 6-10 260 guy that runs the court like that is pretty good. I haven't seen a ton of him though so I'm not really sure what his game is like. He is however built a lot like Sullinger. No idea if he declares or stays.
I'd bet on not legit. Ellis is having a fine season but Curry's having an even better one and is three years younger. I think Curry is probably untouchable (barring ridiculous offers, of course). I would be interested in Biedrins, but only in a buy-low situation. He had a poor year last year and is having a poor year this season. But he's still only 24 and had several very good seasons prior to last season. I think he has upside, but his most recent play is worrying. He's still rebounding at a super level, but his scoring efficiency has dropped like a rock this season and last. Maybe playing alongside Aldridge would get him better looks.
Re: OT: Is Biendrins Available?! 6'9" 280 lbs., not your prototypical C but he's a wide body with long arms. Chad Ford compared him, offensively and rebouding, to a more nimble Kevin Love.
Joel for Biedrins works financially, and saves them 27 million after this season. Of course, he's not exactly the picture of health himself. Guess that means he'd fit right in here. But yeah, I'd buy low. I wouldn't throw in much more over that, however.
From what I read about a week ago they were looking for a big in return, but not one for salary cap reduction purposes. They are trying to trade for a big, and from what I read, even Stephen Curry was considered expendible for the right big.
I'd make that move. Biedrins is mentally broken. He used to be extremely energetic, flying all over grabbing boards, blocking shots, and a GREAT finisher around the rim (typically set up by Baron and Jack of old). Hes 6'11 230ish and used to basically be by himself down there when Nellie would play Harrington/Maggette/Azubuike/Barnes/whoever down there and yeah we'd get killed down low but he'd do a pretty good job of clearing the glass and doing work down low single handedly. You can see the 10/10 and 12/11 seasons hes had with great FG% and even his FT% was good those years. Something happened to him mentally though, dunno if its the long term contract or the injuries of the last few years but hes regressed. His FTs have somehow gotten much worse and it makes him not want to touch the ball. He isn't altering any shots. Rebounding is still up but thats about it. He has been showing signs of returning to form the last several games though. Some very aggressive post ups. No fear of the FT line, even hitting a couple FTs, blocking many, many more shots the last 5 or 10 games. Dunno what exactly is going on or whether hes really coming back, if this slump is a temporary thing or what. I'd move him for Joel though. Hes older but hes bigger, hes a decent enough rebounder. Biedrins is never mentioned by the new owner when discussing the team so many people think hes gonezo whenever Lacob can move him. And I'm in agreement with this. Hes a nice player when hes healthy, a pretty solid C albeit a lightweight one but makes up for it with the tremendous energy, elite level rebounding, and automatic when fed the ball within 5 feet of the rim. But I'd rather have a big space eater down there. If we can move Beans for an expiring then I'd jump on it and start looking for a bigger guy (from briefly reading this forum it seems like Joel isn't cutting it as a starting level NBA C).
This guy misses a lot of games because of injury. I don't know if his knees were ever a reason but if he comes to Portland they sure will be.
