In the next 24 hours, 12 inches of snow will fall down in Chicago and its suburbs. I am located just south of the southern suburbs of Chicago. Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan will be hit the hardest in the next 24 hours. None of this scares me since we have Sleds ready to ride. Lets see how this goes.
I'm in Eastern Iowa and I'm looking at anywhere from about 5"-12" over the next 24 hours, too. The best part about all of this? Me and a friend are traveling about 75 miles to Moline tonight to see Avenged Sevenfold. That will be a fun drive...or not.
Thats... kind of weird. Since I was going to go to that concert. I decided not to, and now obviously it will be suicide to drive across the state. Another 6-12 inches should be falling tomorrow as well.
Yea...pretty sure we're NOT going now. Which sucks, because I've been looking forward to this show since it was announced. But at this point, as you stated, it would be suicide to drive there. Apparently I-80, which is what we would take for 3/4 of the drive, is completely covered in snow, and it's probably only going to get worse.
Im a ways off of 80, and yeah everything is covered out here. I-80 and I-55 are getting closed down. They are offering to pay snowmobilers to help people on the highway. Crazy right now, I want to ride but its not safe to see the trail clear.
So, it seems like I couldn't have gone now if I wanted to, because from my understanding, 80 in to Moline is completely closed down now. God I hate winter.
We got almost a foot last week in Virginia. Decided to take the four hour drive to Blacksburg -- Took me seven.
Damn, it sucks not being able to go to Moline. Our winter here has been the best in the 3 years I've lived here. It hasn't snowed once the whole time, either. We've had a record amount of rain, but that was all in about a week or two's time. It was cold (for here) those two weeks, as well. Nothing like what you guys are going through.
Big blizzard today. Business as usual, though. Do you know what we call a blizzard this big in Ontario? A Wednesday.
Snow drifts up to the side of the house. My sled is not home.. I need it. I'm bored sitting inside with the drifts all over the place. Havnt seen a plow yet.
I had probably 3 foot drifts in my entire driveway this morning. I'm just glad I didn't have to shovel or snowblower the driveway, haha. Now...I'm curious as to how the roads are...because I wouldn't mind leaving the house today since I have another day off.
We probably had 3 or 4 foot drives on my driveway, 5 foot drift to the side of my house. Our snowblower was being retarded and keep breaking, so it took a lot longer than it should. Roads where I am are good if you have a truck. Every car I saw got stuck. Lol.. I did end up going snowmobileing with my dad. Rode for 73 miles. My dad has a nice Ski-Doo, while I'm riding a Vintage Lynz. Lol.. It was hard to keep up sometimes.
