Thought this was interesting: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...ideas-for-the-lakers-to-improve-their-defense I don't know why everyone is focusing on Lakers D. It seems to me that, sans Kobe, they have trouble putting the ball in the bucket. Nonetheless, Bynum+Blake+Brown+Caracter+Future 2nd Rd Pick for Camby+Fernandez+Miller intrigues me... (Awaits bashing) Face it, Bynum is our most tradeable piece... I don't know how the Blazers would like to take back Blake, or if they would like to give up Andre Miller, or how Miller would feel about coming off the bench, but nonetheless... Portland Starting 5: PG Steve Blake SG Brandon Roy SF Nicolas Batum PF LaMarcus Aldridge C Andrew Bynum Off the bench, the Blazers have Cannon Brown and Derrick Caracter who may just need a young team where he can play to blossom. LA Starting 5: PG Derek Fisher (Lakers can't take starting position away from DFish) SG Kobe Bryant SF Ron Artest PF Pau Gasol C Marcus Camby Miller is a MUCH more serviceable backup than Blake, Camby, though older and not as promising as Bynum, will help out defensively, and Rudy would make a great backup to Kobe. Not to mention, he probably would love playing next to his fellow Spaniard, Gasol. Thoughts?
Those are God awful trade options, IMO. I doubt we make a big splash, but if we do, I hope we go after a PG or someone like OJ Mayo or Shane Battier.
Battier would be a really nice 6th man to have. Question, why don't we move Kobe to the PG? He's a great passer and when he (wants to) plays the 1, he's actually really good. It would make the OJ Mayo acquisition more viable.
THE BEST TRADE FOR US RIGHT NOW: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4by8rh4 We get rid of Walton, while we get an upgrade at PG since Hinrich is like an odd man out in washington. Washington gets 2 reliable player but wouldn't require playing time.
Btw, question for you guys... if we trade Bynum straight up for a big... who is the best player we can get? Do you think we could get someone like Al Horford? LMA? Ibaka or Hibbert maybe? Here's a trade with Indiana: Dunleavy (expiring 10M) + Hibbert for Bynum http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=47aztu6
regardless... id seriously be so excited if kupchak managed to pull off something like that... 10M off the books + we get a player very similar to bynum but costs way cheaper!
Bynum has to many injury problems, ship him off while he still has value. Hibbert would be a great pick up, does a lot of things I think Bynum doesn't plus is a lot fresher.
Baha. Bynum for Lamarcus? No problem. What Portland fan wouldn't be excited about a Bynum/Oden front court? They might not play much, but they look great in their suits on the sidelines (IR)
I'm going to have to disagree with this. Logjam at the SF. If we can move Artest somehow, then sure, but otherwise we have Dunleavy, LO, Artest, Walton, AND Ebanks at the 3. Just too much.
odom shouldnt be traded, he's too valuable a sixth man, he can be a real x-factor against teams in the playoffs. Artest, while he has been completely undeserving of his starting position this season, i think he will be valuable in the playoffs, he's proven that last year, so there is no reason to doubt he can do it again. Although Pau is being really inconsistant, replacing him with another PF would hurt the team. The team is used to playing around him and come playoff time he'll definately get his act together and start performing well each game. this brings me to the rest of the team, besides kobe ofcourse, who have been fairly poor this season and show no signs of improving. I think the Bynum dream is over, and its becoming obvious that he wont become the player so many of us hoped he might. This doesnt necessarilymean that we should trade a player that is still servicable, but if an option comes along that would allow the team to upgrade the center or Small foward positions then i think bynum should be dealt. For instance if carmelo anthony or al horford become available then i think bynum could be traded, just as an example, but for equal or lesser value just because he hasnt become as good as say, dwight howard, to me seems a bit of a waste. someone like melo could start in at sf while pau and odom handle the C and PF. ron would become 6th man and we would have a more productive team. shannon brown is a waste of space, he hasnt helped anything and we can probably get good value for him as he appears as an attractive prospect to some teams. if we could snag rudy fernandez from the trailblazers then i think it would improve our roster. what is starting to confuse me is why the organization is being so loyal to derick fisher at the expense of our perimeter defense. the guy has no legs! he's so unfit for a starting position and should be benched if we are to have a bit more success in the regular season, not to mention saving his energy for when we need it in the playoffs. kobe needs to get some more productivity around him for him to perform at his highest level. this is a player who has developed his game around a very talented supporting cast of players, and when the productivity of his teammates goes down, it lowers kobe's chances at being succesful. it doesnt look as if the current supporting cast is going to have the same effect they had last year on teams in the playoffs. A move would be a wise choice, but nothing major. what we need is a more consistant supporting cast coming from the bench.
I disagree... LO can play point, pf and c... he rarely plays alongside both bynum and odom. Dunleavy is capable of starting for us, especially with the way artest is playing. Ebanks only plays when there are injuries. So does Luke. Dunleavy can also play some SG.
http://basketball.realgm.com/wireta..._For_Trade_But_Doesnt_Envision_Anything_Major Blake + Walton for Hinrich please! Do it Mitch!!!
