Who will be a longshot to win the MVP next season? If Memphis wins over 50 games next year watch out for Paul Gasol. He really improved his game this season and I dont expect him to stop improving. I think he can put up 25 and 10 to go along with 2 blocks. He is only 27 so he should be hitting his prime.
You're saying longshot so...Amare Stoudemire if he returns at 100% with that added mid-range shot and if the Suns have the best record in the league which would be possible if he gets back healthy...
Give Pierce 15 more wins in 05-06 he is a top 5 candidate. I think it's almost impossible to bring in another star along with Pierce, but give him another option (preferably a post option) and Pierce can will a team to victory and make noise in the playoffs. Pierce was an MVP candidate a few years ago when he had nothing more than Walker and role players. Give him another guy, plus this young energy, he could be a longshot possibility. But if I had to guess now who would be MVP in 06-07, I would put my money on LeBron.
The obvious choices out there next year will probably be Kobe, Tim Duncan, LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, and maybe Dwyane Wade...Given that, I'd say the dark horses out there would probably be players like Paul Pierce, Gilbert Arenas, and hell, why not Chris Paul?
Amare (if he's 100%), Dirk, and Lebron and Wade. Even watch out for Dwight Howard, he probably won't win it but he'll continue to improve and get mentions, and the only way he'll get it is if the Magic do well, which is unlikely.
It probably depends on what teams records are. Allen Iverson will come in second in scoring again, but his team will not make the playoffs, therefore eliminating his chances. Wait until after free agency. If KG goes to a contender, then automatically his chances increase.I see Elton Brand in the top five for MVP voting.

I hope he wins a championship one day just for sticking with his team, same for Garnett. He's not as good as Kobe, or Tmac, or Lebron or anything but Pierce is a good player and brings his all every night, I wish his management staff would do the same.
My longshot MVP for next season will be Carmelo Anthony. He is a great scorer and he showcased that this season, but I think he is ready to take his gae to the next level, by becoming more aggressive, and being more willing to get his teammtes involved.

God I hope we can reach an agreement on an extension!

The regular season doesn't matter anymore. Just finish it with MENTAL TOUGHNESS and momentum...
Well if Iverson ends up being traded maybe to Minny to play with KG then Iverson can win it. A longshot, but very possible since they should win a lot of games. I would not be surprised if AI averages 33 ppg, 9 assists per game, and about 2 steals, and 3.7 rebounds. Next season since KG would not mind AI scoring. Or 31 ppg, 11 assists, 2 steals, 4 rebounds. As much as I want AI to stay in Philly, it be fun to see AI play with KG. That way AI also get's a chance at a title.

I'd love Pierce's chances if this team could improve up into the 5-6 seed range in the East.

I'm going to say Gilbert Arenas is a longshot, there is no doubt that he is not a leader or very useful for the wizards in many ways, and look at his improvement since he came to us in D.C. he's become near unstopable and a great post player, I think that he does have a longshot chance at this.

If he gets traded to the East that team should automatically become a contender. The Bulls may have a good chance to get him.
I don't think Minny will trade KG, when they have a good shot to land AI with him being shoped. And even if that does not go thru they still can get Starbury from NY to play with KG. lol
