The prices you bid for look too good to be true.

I just wanna know if anyone has experience with that site

I've used priceline for hotels, but not flights. I was happy with results as far as hotels are concerned.

Flights would scare me because you'd probably have 3 different connections.

Hotels are OK, since you can pick your star rating. I haven't had an issue with the hotel portion of Priceline.

Did flights on Priceline last month--needed to fly cross-country with 3 days notice. Priceline had the lowest prices I found anywhere by far. Had no problems at all.

Terrible idea. You post your willingness to pay. It removes all the leverage from your end.

I did once, a few years ago for a last minute mardi gras trip. I don't like it in general because I like to fly at specific times whenever I fly.

Not really, if you completely lowball them. Knowing what is a good deal is crucial to using Priceline, because you don't really know where you're staying until you click the YES box. I've stayed in rooms that are at 30% the normal cost just by knowing what price they would take. Granted, you're not knowing the specific location, but that's never troubled me.

And how much lower would you have been able to get that room or flight if you wouldn't have named your price first? :dunno:

my brother nerds it out and uses sites to find out where you stay. however you don't get points/miles for those bookings either.

I won't use it for flights. Good question, though, but I think I've come out ahead on it for rooms, at least compared to going rates.

How does he do that? Points/miles don't really matter to me, since my wife is an MVP/frequent flyer on 3 airlines right now, and we just booked Disneyland/LAX flight/Marriott in March for 4 of us through points without spending a dime.

www.betterbidding.com there are tricks to slim down where you want to go.

I usually do Yahoo Travel. most I don't get points for either. For flights I get miles though.

Flight to Honolulu for $149 (round trip) sound legit?

    Really damn cheap.

On sites like hotwire and expedia they go for $590-$690

So quick question: If my bid (I bid on a trip to Paris for this summer) gets rejected, when can I re-bid? And how many times can I re-bid?

I think it's unlimited as long as the bid is different or until they're not offering it anymore.
