ManCity dropped points to Birmingham so we are three points up with a game in hand. They face WBA at home. United are visiting Wolves--hopefully they will stumble a bit. Andy Carroll is gone from Newcastle meaning we could see Ameobi-like.
Newcastle did an astonishing job of taking over the game and clawing back. They actually scored five goals but the first was wrongly waved offside. Diaby will get a lot of flak for the sending-off but I think losing Djourou was the difference maker. The pairing of Kos and Squid didn't work out at all, especially defending set pieces. I'm unsure as to how we can get two penalties called against us without as much as a yellow card. The first one was fair enough to award in a 4-nil game but the second was sketch to say the least. Tiote (sp?) had a wonder volley to score the fourth goal and Nolan almost got the fifth. Pretty crazy. Van Persie scored on a tricky volley but was an inch offside. Unfortunate for us. This could be a death blow to our championship race. Hopefully ManU start losing a game or two soon. I can't handle the thought of ManU having an undefeated season.
Yeah, good news, but it stings too because we'd only be 2pts down if we'd hung on. ManU had to lose eventually. They aren't the Invincibles.
Any result before this, I would of said we were title contenders, but this is just plain embarrassing.
The match was a joke. The ref allowed Newcastle to repeatedly kick the shit out of us, because they were 4-0 down, and he felt sorry for them. Yet when Arsenal respond in kind, we get punished simply for defending ourselves. The ref completely changed the game.
^ If Fabregas hadn't been accused of criticizing officials last week I wonder if we would've been treated more fairly?
