If you wondered how Brock Lesnar could go from being afraid of punches vs. Shane Carwin to being even more afraid of punches vs. Cain Velasquez while training with one of the best MMA kickboxers around in Pat Barry, the reason may be that Lesnar was sparring hard once/week and wasn't letting his training partners hit him. This is according to longtime fighter and trainer Bas Rutten, who also gives his thoughts on UFC 126 in this interview...

Yeah Bas is awesome. Lesnar is definitely a bit of a pussy IMO. Dunno if he really has the mindset of a fighter moreso a bully as many (including myself) have said before. He got away with it before though, now he actually lost and did so in embarrassing fashion. If that doesn't make him change then I dunno what will. And like Bas said, if he doesn't seem into it except for the money its not even a good idea to let him in the octagon IMO. In any contact sport and especially fighting I would imagine it becomes dangerous when you're not at 100% intensity all the time.
